I read it as a teen. As an English teacher, I read it with my students many times. They all appreciated this book. There are 3 or more movie versions. Once, my students watched it as a tv mini-series. We had great discussions of the book and the movie.
yes, good book, as my father use to tell us how hard life was in the depression and as children we never believed life could be hard… as adults we know different.
I have–need to re-read it, too. It’s a book that causes you to really understand humanity from the inside out, and I think that’s not too common. Also, it’s short enough to be read in an afternoon.
All of Steinbeck’s works are must reads. One I think should be required reading in school is ‘Winter of our Discontent’. Shows the corruption of a good man in a way we see again and again in society. Have read that book several times.
Yes, hated it!
The reason?
Ugh, me too. Steinbeck *raises cross and splashes holy water all around* keep back!!
@Luna It was a long time ago when I read it, but I remember not liking his writing style.
I respect your opinion
@Luna Peace be with you. ✌
Thanks, you too

yes, John Steinbeck wrote a lot of really good books.
I love Steinbeck.
Yes in French though. The title is far more interesting in English than in French because “Des souris et de Hommes” isn’t a very attractive title.
