I think finding the time is definitely a factor. I work part time, have two kitties that want my attention a lot of time, there’s always housework to be done. Haha it doesn’t end.
How fast I read a book also definitely depends on how much it’s grabbing my attention.
But I’m impressed by those that can read a whole one in a day. I haven’t ever done that with a book besides a children’s book. ?
I had a friend who claimed to read a novel in one evening every night. When I asked how she did it it turned out she skimmed through the books. She didn’t read every word like I do. It takes me a week to finish a novel just reading at bedtime.
Definitely! Way back when I was a teenager and dinosaurs roamed the earth. Back before kids and laundry and cooking dinner and grocery lists and scrubbing toilets and paying bills and something else . . .oh yeah–full-time job!
My last novel was, Disciples of Death, a terrorist thriller set in Europe and the Middle East. It was published by Black Opal Books and is available on Amazon Books. Take a look.
Yes. I read two on the flights to Halifax, N.S. (Shannon to Heathrow, Heathrow to Halifax. The books were Shrill by Lindy West and The Opposite of Everything by Joshilynn Jackson. I think the most I have read in a day would be three (shortish ones).
@Nay I usually read when they go to bed. I don’t watch much tv. I mean I’m not anti tv by any means. They watch more than enough, but by the time they’re in bed, I choose books for me time over tv. Or if I go out for a pedicure or solo lunch, I bring my book
Yes, but…they were either really short, easy reads, or I was participating in a Readathon, the point of which is to read as many books as possible in a short period of time. It certainly hasn’t happened very often.
When I was younger in grade school i would read all the goosebumbs series and baby sitter club series…Lately I have read Ellen Hopkins Books in 1 day…i read 3 of them!!!! oh and the stehanie meyers series I read those ones in one day as well!
not that much … if you ask for French author, I should say no. But as for the translation, it sounds a little bit longer (or way much longer). Just take Tom Clancy, 1 book in english = 2 books in french. And forget Ken Follett or Douglas Kennedy!!! Their books are pretty big!!
Aww. It’s okay, I take a long time too. I did read one book really fast recently, actually, and I was sad because I didn’t get much time with the characters. So that’s a benefit of reading slower. You really get to spend time with the book getting to know it. ?
Only if it’s really short or I have a LOT of time to read. A normal 300-400 page book takes me at least a week to read, sometimes longer depending on how hard it is for me to get alone time to read.
If you count reading books to my kids when they were little.
I hadn’t thought about children’s books, but I’d say it definitely counts! Lol ?
Whenever I can find the time
Ohm yes? I think 2 1/2 is my record (maybe 3 small ones)
That’s impressive! I’ve never read a whole book in a day, lol.
Thanks 🙂
Yes!

No
Me either lol
@Nay unless I count children books I read to my son lol
Right, children’s books are the exception for me. I can probably read 30 of those in a day if I had time lol
Before I had tiny dictators running around my house I often did.
Not 2 but a big long one, YES!
I read a book a day every day, sometimes two
Very impressive.
Yes, Janet evanovich or carol higgins clark

Same here. I want to really experience it so I take my time.
I’ve been known to skim a page here and there if the author, in my opinion, gets long winded. But, what does your friend call skimming?
@Cassandra reading less than half the words on each page.
On every page? Nah, I couldn’t do that.
I wish
Haha same here ?
Like who reads that fast?
Apparently a lot of people. Several have commented that they do. I’d literally have to do nothing else in a day lol
same, and read two very short books.
?????
I read a whole trilogy in two days, does that count? 😀
Yeah, I’d say so! Lol wow
Quite a few times…miss those days!
Definitely! Way back when I was a teenager and dinosaurs roamed the earth. Back before kids and laundry and cooking dinner and grocery lists and scrubbing toilets and paying bills and something else . . .oh yeah–full-time job!
I wish. I’m a slow reader.
I don’t know if I actually read slow, but I definitely take my time with it lol
True.
That too… Those days are long gone though. 😀
With writing novels I don’t get to read as much these days, I couldn’t get anywhere near that these days. I admire people who can speed read.
I know, I’m so jealous of them. I’d love to be able to have that skill
What kind of novels do you write, @Paul? I’m an editor and I like hearing about what people are writing about. ☺️
My last novel was, Disciples of Death, a terrorist thriller set in Europe and the Middle East. It was published by Black Opal Books and is available on Amazon Books. Take a look.
Very nice. I’ll check it out.
Thanks, all the best.
I wish!
Yes…years back…the Hardy Boys series which right now doesn’t seem like much. ?
Hey that still counts lol
Yea i guess…its a really great series for teenagers.
Yes! Two, but they were short. And yesterday I had left about half of the book I was reading and started and finished another one after finishing it.
That’s awesome!
I read at least 3.
? wow
I have always been a huge bookworm ever since I was 5 years old.
Depends on book, mood, time and coffee.
In ideal situation, I would like to finish the whole series in a day (if the series consists of max 10 books?)
Yes maybe 2 1/2 not got to 3 in a day yet though
Yes. I read two on the flights to Halifax, N.S. (Shannon to Heathrow, Heathrow to Halifax. The books were Shrill by Lindy West and The Opposite of Everything by Joshilynn Jackson. I think the most I have read in a day would be three (shortish ones).
Ha…Yes, that is child’s play!!!!
??
Yes
I wish I could do this. I guess I’m a slow reader. I can sometimes do one a day. I can’t read at work so that takes a big chunk of my day.
Same here. And on days I’m off, I have housework and cooking to do, and I have two kitties and a fiancé who want my attention lol
I have three kids… and I’m a stay at home mom. So I mean it’s not often I can do that.
I wouldn’t be able to read much if I had kids either.
@Nay I usually read when they go to bed. I don’t watch much tv. I mean I’m not anti tv by any means. They watch more than enough, but by the time they’re in bed, I choose books for me time over tv. Or if I go out for a pedicure or solo lunch, I bring my book
That’s awesome. I like how you make time for yourself doing something you enjoy. ?
You have to. It’s a necessity. Also why I cook 99% of the time.
Well, I read more these days since I am not working due to illness. Swings and roundabouts.
I have

Nice!
Yeah, one time I did 3 in a day!
Cool! I’ve never done that lol
Let’s just say I don’t sleep a lot haha
I would imagine not. I fall asleep reading sometimes. But I also fall asleep watching tv, and at restaurant tables if it’s passed 10:30pm. No joke lol
Damn, that’s a skill! I try and read until I exhaust myself but that takes.. hours haha.
Yeah I can fall asleep almost anywhere. I could fall asleep right now at work but I still have five hours to go lol
Well I won’t get tired for another.. four? So I’ll trade ya!
that’s amazing!?
Yes.
probably for some manga … otherwise, it would take me a week to finish a book
Same here. I think the quickest one I read took four days.
And I was off work and reading it constantly.
I read a lot while waiting for the subway/bus. As for books in eEglish, a little long. Mostly, I read in French
Are French books shorter than English books?
not that much … if you ask for French author, I should say no. But as for the translation, it sounds a little bit longer (or way much longer). Just take Tom Clancy, 1 book in english = 2 books in french. And forget Ken Follett or Douglas Kennedy!!! Their books are pretty big!!
Many times
sometimes dependes of the book, someday read one a time and others read 2 books in one day
TR read a book before breakfast each morning, so I read. Idk, I wasn’t alive then! Lol
No
Me either haha
Depend on length of book. Definitely read Story books in my childhood.
I wish! I get so annoyed with how slow of a reader I am 🙁
Aww. It’s okay, I take a long time too. I did read one book really fast recently, actually, and I was sad because I didn’t get much time with the characters. So that’s a benefit of reading slower. You really get to spend time with the book getting to know it. ?
Thats a good way to think of it
Only if it’s really short or I have a LOT of time to read. A normal 300-400 page book takes me at least a week to read, sometimes longer depending on how hard it is for me to get alone time to read.
Same here.
it takes me about the same amount of time too. I’ve been devoting more time to it recently and I feel really good about that.
I have been devoting more time to reading, too, @Akil. Go us!
Yes but not often. I tend to read long books and I have to go to stupid work most days. Work really cuts into my reading time! ?
It’s usually something that happens when I’m on vacation.
Work cuts into my reading time too lol
Yes.
Yup yesterday I read one book and then read it’s sequel and finished it haha
Very nice!
Depends on their sizes. I have read 3 different children’s books in a day.
When I was yonger and we went to the libary I always read all the shorter books the same day ? now rarely.
It gets harder as we get busier.
Yes more things I have to do now.
Yes, when I was younger I easily read a paperback a day. Hardcovers would take two. I am busier now so it takes a couple of weeks to read a book.
I would say I’ve read books back to back, but not sure if I quite finished in 24 hrs?
Yup! When I get into the mood I can do about 3-4 in one day.?
Wow! ?
