So question…have you ever re-read a book? Why? Why not? And what book (s)? Ok so that more than one..lol

I’ve read Hinds feet on high places 2/3 times cos it’s my favourite book, but in general i don’t re read books because my memory’s too good and i remember what happened and also my tbr list is too long and there’s too many books out there waiting to be read.
Too many books too little time!
No. Well, yes. I reread books when I’ve forgotten what happens–I did reread Atonement.
Yes when I buy a book or take one out from the library that I forgot I already read.
I re read my 2 favorites every year!
Dracula and wuthering heights
If I tried to list the books I’ve re-read, I’d be listing titles for hours lol
Me, too. Some books are rereads because I’m 68 and have grown and had some life experience since my first reading. I read Steinbeck’s Cannery Row every few years because a dear friend gave it to me when I was in the USAF and on my way to the Presidio of Monterey; Cannery Row, pretty much the CR of which Steinbeck wrote, was just a ten-minute walk down the hill. Slaughterhouse-5 also gets a reread every few years because the same dear friend gave it to me upon my return from Vietnam. I appreciate them each time I read them. I’ll stop at those two because, Gordon Thomson, if I listed or even tried to list my rereads, this post would become a book.
War and Peace many times because its just the best!
I reread books all the time. There are just some stories I love and have to reread like Twilight, The Hunger Games, The Kricket series, Mortal Instruments
I only reread books for a book club. I would never make a dent in my my tbr if I reread books
I reread most of my personal library fairly regularly. It’s 400+ books, so I just stick to the ones that I reread about once a year. The Harry Potter series, the Mercy Thompson series, the Alpha and Omega series, The Hollows series, The Host, I-Robot, The Hitchhicker’s Guide to the Galaxy series, the Throne of Glass series and the A Court of Thorn and Roses series.
I re-read all my favorite books like Harry Potter especially, whenever I can’t find something new to get into, or when I have read a couple really sub-par books and need something amazing to get the bad taste out of my mouth.
Im about to reread the court of thorns and roses series….lol…and then im buying the series coloring book.
I have books I’ve read 50 times or more
Yes!! I’ve reread JOHN JAKE’S books on the Centennial !!! I love them !! I will never get rid of them or loan them. !!!
At an estimate, I’ve re-read at least 300 books. When I’m loyal to an author and his/her best works, it’s a lifetime affair.
I have re-read Look Homeward, Angel by Romas Wolfe and The Black Stallion by Walter Farley. Enjoyed at both readings.
Harry Potter ?
The dark tower series because it took 20 years for all the books to come out
A court of thorns and roses 3x
A court of Mist and fury 4x both by Sarah j Maas
Clockwork princess by: Cassandra Clare x2
Then I’ve reread a couple other books just because the next one was coming out and I couldn’t remember what happened previously, which I don’t really count because the book must have not been that great if I can’t remember ?
Oh then the Bible bc of obvious reasons ?
I reread mine all the time. I only buy books if I enjoy them enough to reread them. If not, I don’t feel it’s worth the money
I’ve only re-read some classics and Sherlock mysteries. Also some Agatha Christie, and P.G. Wodehouse. That’s about it, I don’t usually re-read???
I have reread a couple of books. I really only reread books if it’s one I really really enjoyed and it’s been awhile since I read it.
Yes, loved the story, too many to count.
Many, some several times. More often when I was younger because i didnt have money to buy books and couldn’t get myself to the library whenever I wanted. There’s stories I love that deserve to be re-read
I re-read lots of books. Especially series if a new book is coming out!
Also I read a lot of classics when I was quite young, so I’ve re read many as an adult because i get so much more out of them now
I wold like to re- read a couple- like Harry Potter books, and At Home in Mitford- but I have so many waiting to be read the first time- so doubt that I would re-read.
I have reread books sometimes because I either miss some characters that I haven’t read about in a long time, or another book gets me thinking about another book, or I have been reading too many serious books.
(accidentally hit the enter button) I have reread The Argeneau Series by Lynsay Sands, The Dragon Guard Series by Julia Mills, as well as several of Claudy Conn’s series.
I don’t often reread books, but I have read “Revolutionary Road” by Richard Yates four times…….I guess I love his sentences and his narrative overall.
I’ve reread many books. I’ve reread the Hobbit and the Lord of Rings more than a dozen times. I’ve reread Frank Herbert’s Dune. Also, among many others, Arthur C. Clarke’s Childhood’s End, HG Wells’ War of the Worlds, Dorothy Dunnett’s Chronicles of Francis Crawford of Lymond, several Andre Norton science fiction and fantasy books…you get the idea. Even with all the TBRs, I still like to reread some of my books.
I always revisit:
Moby Dick
Pride and Prejudice
Wheel of Time
LOTR
Catcher in the Rye
Book of Romans
ü
I always re-read my books. I like revisiting old stories to make me feel safe.
I’ve reread every Sarah J. Maas book at least once. Most of them more. And I find new information every time!
I reread a lot.
Some books I just enjoy, some I’ve forgotten the story, sometimes I need something familiar & comforting.
I used to never reread books, as I felt life was too short & there are soooooooooooo many books I want to read! But recently I’ve reread loads of books, but purely because I couldn’t remember what happened in them & needed to remind myself before reading the next one in the series! And doing so has made me think of many more books I’d like to reread, just because my memory of them is so hazy! I don’t know if I will reread them, but I wouldn’t say never any more, like I used to! I also love to reread graphic novels, but they’re such quick reads, I don’t count them! Lol!
I reread a book when its been awhile and I’m going to read the next in the series. I reread Lost Symbol when I got Inferno as a gift!
I’ve re-read Harry Potter! But otherwise I see it as a waste of time. I’ve got so many other books to read??
Oh yes! Often. I’m actually currently re-reading The Whole Truth by David Baldacci. I read it a couple of years ago and now have the next on in the series. But couldn’t remember much about the book so thought I’d re-read it before reading the second one. But if I really enjoyed a book, I will re-read it. ?
I read that book last month, and for my birthday, I got the previous one!
Gone with the Wind, Plum Island and many others
I’ve read Plum Island. It was very good.
I’ve reread the harry potter series so many times I couldn’t even count, I’ve reread the acotar series once, I’ve reread cirque de freak once, the hunger games series twice, and I’ve read spellslinger twice. After I’ve finished rereading harry potter again (and fitting in Tower of Dawn and Shadowblack, the second spellslinger book in as they’re released soon) I’m planning on rereading his dark materials trilogy again 🙂
“Gone with the wind” is my favorite book to reread.
Mine is The Thornbirds. ?
I would love to reread books, but I rarely do. The only books I remember rereading are Wuthering Heights, To Kill a Mockingbird, Dandelion Wine, The Little House books, Daughter of Smoke and Bone. It’s either because I love them or I’ve needed to read them again to finish a series because I’ve forgotten everything. I was actually planning on rereading the first two Infernal Devices books so I can read the last one.
I can think of two books I reread, I loved each dearly and there was a lot of time on between when first read and reread. I Know This Much Is True (Really Lamb) and The Five People You Meet In Heaven (Mitch Albom), each of these authors is fabulous and after reading one of their books I continued on to read all of their books!
I have several I’ve reread a few times. Watership Down, Lord of the Rings, anything by Mercedes Lackey, some of my John Grisham. Just off the top of my head. I reread them because they are old friends that I like to revisit.
To Kill a Mockingbird, A Man Called Ove … Love those two books and always try to read them once a year
To kill a mockingbird is my fave!! X
only the Bible because God wants me to read it every day. as for fiction books , i never re read them , because there are always so many other books i want to read.
Have you ever read The Shack or Hinds feet on high places?
I re-read frequently. My favorites to reread are Frankenstein, Jane Eyre, Grapes of Wrath, Shakespeare, and 1984. There are some I’ve reread but not as frequently, The All Souls Trilogy and Twilight Saga. I find there is always a new angle to discover when rereading.
I love Jane Eyre. I’ve re-read that a few times. ?
I re-read a lot, but I have my favourites: Earths Children by Auel, LOTR by Tolkien, Shogun by Clavell, Harry Potter by Rowling, Outlander-series by Gabaldon, The Stand by King. Oh, and Twilight ☺️
I rarely do it. There are too many other books to read!
Saying that though, I recently re-read A Wrinkle in Time because I hadn’t read it since I was about 9. I wanted to refresh my memory for the new movie.
If I buy a book that then has sequels come out, I often will read the series from the start so the new story follows right on.
I do this especially if there’s been a long gap since the previous book came out. Or in a couple of cases, when I found out that the author actually had more books!
I always do this! I’ll forget where I am in the series if I go onto another?
I do. Most especially if I am distraught or overly-stressed. I reread books that bring me comfort, that inspire me, that let me think there are still good things in this world. I’ve reread HP for I-don’t-know-how-many-times. It always cheers me up.
I rarely reread books. There are some exceptions – but not more than a handful or two.
This does not apply to books I use as reference since, obviously, I have to keep going back to them.
A book worth reading the first time is worth reading again and again. The problem is that there are so many terrible books that I’ve read once, not really worth reading the first time. The good ones really stand out, though, and that’s why I reread them. Some of my most often reread books include The Hobbit, The Lord of the Rings trilogy, C. S. Lewis’ books, and The Harry Potter series.
I’ve read the Narnia books so many times, as a child I never noticed the religious connotations, but these days they really stand out. Not that I have a problem with that, it’s just interesting the way you see things changes over the years.
Yes, can we say we’ve really read anything by only reading it once? It seems I notice something different every time I reread something. Or, different things stand out to me depending on what’s going on in my life or around me.
As a child I did… there were a few books I loved and read over and over. But as an adult I don’t. I’d rather spend the time reading books I haven’t already read.
I loved E.B. White, especially The Trumpet of the Swan, also the Wizard of Oz series, Little House series, and Anne of Green Gables and other books by L.M. Montgomery.
Tuck Everlasting, and Rebecca
