Yes, I read it when I was in my early teens. I absolutely loved it and still love it to this day. I plan to re-read it one of these days. One of my all time favorites.
Yes…. It was a long and painful experience. Took me a full year to get through and led to a slump in my desire to read lol… But I read the whole thing.
I read it about every year to 18 months. And I did teach myself to read in French just so I could read this book in its native language. So yes, I actually have read Les Miserables many times!
Over 55 years ago. In 7th grade my mother told the Librarian to let me take out books in the Adult library. I worked my way through it, picking an author, then reading all that one authors books before moving on. Memory fails me today what they all were. Time to repeat that exercise.
I read it a few years ago and was a little surprised how much I liked it. Got tedious at the end, but I think I managed to read it in a couple months. I tried reading The Hunchback of Notre Dame but couldn’t get into it
My mum tried, got a few chapters in and gave up when the vicar spent three chapters arguing with himself about whether or not he should let Valjean in.
Yes. I enjoyed it. I didn’t think I would. (I mostly read fantasy–occasionally classical novels.) Bad things happen, but there’s something in the tone of the novel that makes the sad stuff more bearable. Good things happen, too. 🙂
Not I.
