It’s definitely not in any way soft porn, or explicit in any way at all. Even the adult themes in it are most romanticised. Aimed at young teen girls, but enjoyed by romantic women everywhere. I LOVED this series, but I still know it’s not the most serious work of literature ever written. people love to hate it. Instead, they should transfer all their hate to the 50 shades series, that deserves it more.
Thank you. Kind of sick of people being book snobs and acting like Twilight was the worst series ever, and anyone who liked it at all…personally, I loved it then and I love it now…are ignorant morons who aren’t capable of reading and enjoying anything ‘better’.
There is no profanity or explicit sex, but there is some violence. It’s YA, so perfect for around 12/13 and up, if you like a romantic urban fantasy story
@Melissa I mean, I hate 50 Shades…I’m trying to get into it, but I’m really not okay with people making money off of fanfiction with the names changed to avoid getting punished for doing it…but it’s still something that other people love, and it’s gotten some people to start reading or read more, so for that reason, I just don’t talk about it when someone else posts about it.
*shrugs* When I caught my 46 year old cousin reading it, I asked “What are you?? 13??” And promptly got her foot up my rear… From what I know, there’s nothing too explicit in there. I’d say it doesn’t have an age limit.
@Melissa I’m trying to listen to the audiobooks…yay for libraries!…but I can’t get into it so far. I know my cousin has a copy of the Grey book that she was given, maybe I’ll borrow that next time I’m down there for a visit.
Yes! Gosh, when did being such a book snob become so popular. Just say you didn’t like it, or don’t comment. No need to bash a book or author you didn’t like.
OMG Yes! I got so much sh*t for reading Twilight in my 20’s. Personally, I don’t really go for romance but my little bro’s gf was reading 50 Shades and I was just happy she was reading! My sister, my grandma they all read romance! Whatever floats your boat I say!
Being a mother of an eleven year old, I’m not sure if it’s appropriate. You may want to check out Breaking Dawn before you let her read it so you can decide for yourself.
I read Breaking Dawn as soon as it was released. I was about 12 or 13 at the time. I was mature and didn’t really think much of it. If you believe your child is mature enough, I’m sure she can handle it.? But I definitely agree with reading it yourself so you can see if you’re comfortable with it or not!
@Christle same girl. I can’t do it because I’m like this isn’t what it’s supposed to be. Then I see trailers and it’s like that happens in twilight, they say that in twilight lol.
Of course
I wouldn’t have thought so.. But it’s been a while since I read it x
Ermmm… no
Your comment translates from ‘ermmm…no’ to Yeah. Yeah… ?
It translates! ?? ok then no, no it isn’t
I guessed it was a weird mistake, but it amused me ?
Wot we ‘ave ‘ere is… failure, to communicate…
😀 😀 😀
I don’t think so.
Meyer was religious. They don’t even butt uglies until they’re married. It’s just incurably shit.
Yeah no. I’d say 13 or 14 tbh ?
Not at all
more like 10+
No
Not r rated but wouldn’t recommend. Still want the time lost from reading that series back
No I’d definitely say it’s a ya novel not 18+
Nope. My younger cousins read it when it was first out, they were both under 18.
Definitely not. ? lots of middle schoolers read that series.
Lol no. I’d say 14-18
NO ? and it’s than the movie

Agree..
It’s o.k.to have a personal opinion on any book or series of books…
Thank you. Kind of sick of people being book snobs and acting like Twilight was the worst series ever, and anyone who liked it at all…personally, I loved it then and I love it now…are ignorant morons who aren’t capable of reading and enjoying anything ‘better’.

No! I would say 13-14+
This! Thank You! I hate the unsolicited advice.
I’m sick of it as well. It’s always twilight and 50 shades being bashed. I love twilight.

@Christle I’ve never read the shades books. I thought about it but ehhh. I understand how you feel, though.

I was well over 18 when I read it and I loved them!
No. I read it in high school and I still have the books.
Nope
Nope it is most definitely like 10 and up. I loved that series. Ps. Why so much hate? Everyone likes different things
I would say 15 or 16+
Okay thanks for everyone
Just wanted to be sure ??
Yes! Gosh, when did being such a book snob become so popular. Just say you didn’t like it, or don’t comment. No need to bash a book or author you didn’t like.
18+!!!! But how? I don’t feel so.
Heavens no, lol. A young teen can pick these books up. It’s totally acceptable age wise.
Its for teens…….
No i would say probably 14-18, but i know some in their 20s still read it.
I was over 30 when I first read them.
I read in high school and i still love em
Im 27
Kids had the books laying around for years. I almost tossed them, but I saw the movies and I wanted to give the books a go.
I’ve now read the series about 5 times lol
I think i read all of em first then saw the movies but i love both
OMG Yes! I got so much sh*t for reading Twilight in my 20’s. Personally, I don’t really go for romance but my little bro’s gf was reading 50 Shades and I was just happy she was reading! My sister, my grandma they all read romance! Whatever floats your boat I say!
So weird i was just about to ask this! Cause my 10 year old is reading it
Any sex scenes?
One which is slightly explicit after they’re married and some allusion to it near the end of the last book.
Thank u!!
It’s mild.

Shes on the first one
She’ll be fine on the first one

Harlequin Romance books are racier than these ?
Nooooo lol. There’s definitely YA books that are 18+ but twilight isn’t one of them.
I read it with my son when he was in 6th grade.
No Twilight is @YA
@Christle same girl. I can’t do it because I’m like this isn’t what it’s supposed to be. Then I see trailers and it’s like that happens in twilight, they say that in twilight lol.
No. it’s very PG-13… Fifty Shades is the one that’s 18+ sorta
No 13+
My girls read these when they were 12-13.. when they came out.
I read it when I was 11 lol
50 shades IS mature..
No. I’d say 13+.
