I am just a tiny bit (ok a lot) obsessed with Brandon Sanderson’s Stormlight books. First one is “The Way of Kings”. Book 3 comes out soon so it’s a good time to read the first two. And they’re pretty hefty books so should keep you busy for a little while 🙂
Blood of Elves by Andrzej Sapkowski is the first in books that inspired the Witcher games and was quite enjoyable. I’ve otherwise been on a big urban fantasy kick. I enjoyed Kevin Hearne’s Iron Druid books (first one is Hounded). They were introduced to me as books about a guy who loves the earth, his dog, and whiskey. Which since those are some of my favorite things too I had to check it out and I’ve now gone through the series three times 🙂
@Kyla Would love to see it. Of course, I already have in my head what all of these characters should look and sound like after reading all 13 books. Not sure I want to erase the picture. 😉
To Kill a Mockingbird Never Let Me Go Lord of the Rings Cloud Atlas A Song of Ice and Fire Most of the Discworld books by Terry Pratchett, especially the Tiffany Aching ones
1. C J Sansom’s Shardlake Series (Dissolution, Dark Fire, Sovereign, Revelation, Heartstone & Lamentation) 2. Lars Kepler’s Joona Linna series (The Hypnotist, The Nightmare, The Fire Witness, The Sandman & Stalker) 3. Fredrik Backman – A Man Called Ove, My Grandmother Sends Her Regards and Apologises, Britt-Marie was Here & Beartown Also… Stephen King’s IT, Gwendy’s Button Box, Needful Things, Salem’s Lot and Mr Mercedes…
I’m not sure how to pick a favorite book — it’s so subjective, depending on age, circumstance and mood. I have always loved fairytales and folklore; so that remains a constant — I’ve read LotR, Harry Potter, and Susan Cooper’s The Dark is Rising children’s series many times. Current urban fantasy fav’s are books by Ilona Andrews and Patricia Briggs. My favorite classic is Persuasion. Bel Canto and The Red Tent were particularly enthralling book club reads. The Uncommon Reader and A Child’s Christmas in Wales are favorite novellas. Malcolm Gladwell’s non-fiction is fascinating — Blink, The Tipping Point, Outliers…
How about some non-fiction? Emperor of All Maladies, The Warmth of Other Suns, Just Mercy, The Devil in White City, Under the Banner of Heaven. Fiction, Burial Rites, Alias Grace, The Book Thief, City of Thieves, The Nightingale, The Enchanted…
The Night Circus, The True story of Hansel and Gretel, The Hangmans Daughter (series), The Storyteller, the discovery of Witches (series), The child thief, Wicked (series)

The Westing Game, And Then There Were None, The Hound of the Baskervilles, Night Film, Devil in the White City, Shutter Island, The Suspicions of Mr. Whicher
@Jennifer , I was up till after midnight with it. I wasn’t enthusiastic about reading it, then couldn’t put it down. A beautiful read, a compelling story.
– Also anything by Lisa Genova (Still Alice; Left Neglected; The O’Briens; Love, Anthony. She has a new one coming out in April) – Anything by Amy Hatvany (Best Kept Secret is my favorite one)
The Poisonwood Bible. I love this book. I almost never read a book twice because there are SO many I want to read and so little time, but I had to revisit this one. I listened to it the second time around. Barbara Kingsolver narrates her own books. It takes a little getting used to, but I find her voice to be very soothing.
I have not read them. I only just finished reading Shadow of The Wind a few months ago and wasn’t even aware that they existed. I will totally look for them, though! I planned on looking for more stories by Carlos Ruiz Zafon anyway, since Shadow was so good.

A girl that falls into a hole in the earth and lands in the palm of a giant metal hand. ?
It’s a great series with amazing characters.
