@Nohemi it does have romance, not sure what you mean by super innocent though. I’d call one romance a slow burn and really all of them “you’re both kinda being idiots, everyone knows you like each other”.
@Nia ahahha nice. I’m just used to Sarah j mass, so I always compare to that. How about six of crows? Can I read that without reading this first? Also what about the romance here?
Ohh I like Leigh’s writing more than Sarah’s. But I love them both in different ways. Six of Crows is the next generation series of Grishaverse. I believe you can read that without reading this first, but imo it’s better if you read this first because of the reference. Different stories, though. Romance is… less painful. The romance in Grishaverse is the kind of romance you dont wanna ever have. It’s the opposite for SoC,I guess ?
I’m halfway through the second book and I’d definitely recommend them and yes there is romance but be warned the beginning of the second books drags a bit which is why it’s been taking me so long to read it
@Katelyn I’m a little over half-way done with the second book and I totally agree- the beginning was sloooow. I absolutely LOVE Six of Crows duo so I’m planning on sticking through this one and am excited for King of Scars!
Meh. I was underwhelmed by the first three books. So much so I am not interested in Six of Crows, no matter what everyone else says about that duology.
Yes! I will also admit that Six of Crows duology is better, but Grisha was pretty good, and I really think it’s important to read at least the first book of Grisha before Six of Crows because the worldbuilding will help you a lot. And the new book, King Of Scars, should definitely be read last.
BIG YAAASSS! I love all of those books. I had a harder time with Six of Crows just because it is SO different but omg it was so good still. Absolutely yes. Leigh Bardugo is amazing.
I’ve just finished the 2nd book and honestly it’s took me about 2 months to read the 2..the books are okay, just feel like they are maybe for a younger audience. I’ve been told the six of crows duology is better so trying to push through!
I really like the trilogy! It’s a bit different from the norm, which I liked. Some of the story conventions I wasn’t too keen on. There is romance, but I was like ‘bleh’. It wasn’t who I wanted her to end up with.
Not as good as Six of Crows duology but it’s worth it
worth it
Agreed, not as good as Six of Crows, but it sets up the universe perfectly.
@Kathryn does six of crows have romance what is the level if yes? Like super innocent?
@Nohemi it does have romance, not sure what you mean by super innocent though. I’d call one romance a slow burn and really all of them “you’re both kinda being idiots, everyone knows you like each other”.
Big yay but I love the duology that comes after it more
I preffered it to six of crows. It’s a phenomenal read

@Nia ahahha nice. I’m just used to Sarah j mass, so I always compare to that. How about six of crows? Can I read that without reading this first? Also what about the romance here?

@Nia so you’d like the one in six of crows better?
I can’t say which I like better, I feel like I love them equally. But Six of Crows is less complicated and doesnt give me heart attack as often.

YAY bit of romance
I wasn’t a fan of the Grisha Trilogy. Now the Six of Crows Duology, I loved that.
I only read the first one. I literally started a reread today to read the whole series.
It’s okay. Mal and Alina got on my nerves though
@Phương, can we talk about how much potential the Darkling had?! Like, SO MUCH potential! ?
@Elizabeth he could have been an excellent character ?
thank gods nikolai carried the books
I say meh. Books didn’t really grab me at all honestly.
Yay! I did prefer the Six of Crows books, but the second and third books of the trilogy are definitely better
Yes! I will also admit that Six of Crows duology is better, but Grisha was pretty good, and I really think it’s important to read at least the first book of Grisha before Six of Crows because the worldbuilding will help you a lot. And the new book, King Of Scars, should definitely be read last.
Nay
Love this series!

I’m reading the second book now and it is good so far.

I could never get into it but I did love Six of Crows
I’m reading the first book now and really enjoying it. It’s a bit of a slow burn, but good
BIG YAAASSS! I love all of those books. I had a harder time with Six of Crows just because it is SO different but omg it was so good still. Absolutely yes. Leigh Bardugo is amazing.

I didn’t love Grisha. The romance isn’t really there. The love interests aren’t great in my opinion, either.
Nayyy
Yessss!!!! Hell yes!!
Hmmmm I didn’t like it but we all have different taste so why not. ??♀️??♀️
YAY! and there is also romance 😉
