It depends. I normally do however I’m doing the Shadowhunter Chronicles read along so I have to wait and it hasn’t been as bad as I was expecting lol. I tend to get obsessive if I’m reading a series so maybe it’s a good thing to have a rest in between
I think it depends on how good the series is. I inhaled LOTR and The Belgariad, for example. With others I sometimes felt the need to take a break and read something else e.g. Bernard Cornwell’s Sharpe series
depends on how I feel. If I go on the latest series yes I have just gone from book 5 to 6 but during the rest of the series have read other books between them
I read three books between each Outlander. They are just so long and I feel like I am missing so many other good reads . They are taking me forever this way but , longer to enjoy . I just finished number six.
Depend if I’m interested enough to start right away if it’s available. Or if I’m so-so and not sure I’ll read something else and if my mind comes back to it I’ll continue.
Usually I take a break. I usually do not buy all series at once so if I like the 1st book I will order the next one, and it takes time for if to arrive by mail so I read other books in between.
Depends… I fell in love with the Acotar series and read them cover to cover… Waiting on the new installment so depends on if the books are all out or not
I MUST read them in order! I hate missing the little details about the characters as the author develops them in time. Also, I love the anticipation of waiting for the next book in the series to come out.
I have to finish a series. If I read something in between I lose the feel and atmosphere of the series. A series is like one long story in multiple books for an easier read. By reading another book I feel I have to reread the previous books that I had read in a series because I feel I have to remember what happened in them before going to the next one.
Try to finish a series unless it’s forever long then break it up a bit. Unless it’s so good I can’t stop. lol that’s also why I won’t start a NEW series that I know isn’t finished yet. I cannot stand the waiting to know what happens, especially since I have a 2 second memory that’s about a week behind on a good day. lol
Next in a series for me
What if you don’t own the sequels yet?
@SaraBeth I’m a big nut and tend to buy the whole series at once if I can ?
I am afraid of not enjoying, so I buy the first and then see.
Depends on my mood.

I break it up. Otherwise I get burnt out.
Plus, that way I always have a fall back.

I’ve got them down to read one a month as they’re so intense and I’ve only read book 1. I didn’t even feel this way about Game of Thrones!
@Tika , they are super intense . I need something else between. I do start to miss them though after about three and go back .

i read the next one
I seem to have learned that So far, I can’t read more than 3 consecutive books in a series. I need to switch after that & then go back to it.
Depends on the series
Depends
Usually, something in between.
Depends, preferably yes, but if I can’t get hold of the next one, I’ll read something else.
Read something in between
It depends but usually I read something in between.
Next in the series
Depends on how much I liked the book.
3-4 in a series couple inbetween then back to series if it is a long one
Next because even if they are entirely separate stories there will probably be continuing sub-plots to keep track of.
I break them up.
I read a stand alone between the shadowhunter books lol cause they were so long
Depends on how I’m feeling but usually continue the series.
Depends but usually I see what my fav authors are doing in between
I MUST read them in order! I hate missing the little details about the characters as the author develops them in time. Also, I love the anticipation of waiting for the next book in the series to come out.
Depends how into the series I am and how long the series is ! Sometimes I need a change
Depends on the length of the book.
Finish the series
