I check Amazon constantly through the day! I check goodreads every few days- don’t think it’s such an intuitive system to check and also think it’s too open to abuse
That’s my problem with it too – I’ve received a swathe of 1stars on each of my books on goodreads over very short periods- no reviews, just ratings. I complained to goodreads but they said they wouldn’t even investigate as they want to encourage readers to leave ratings ?
Yes, I find it can be troll city because of that. And don’t even get me started on authors who review their own books on there because ‘it’s not against the rules’
I seldom look, but I have noticed that all my books are consistently lower rated on Goodreads than on Amazon, and by a good bit. I always assumed that had something to do with Goodreads audience being different, but exactly how it is different I’m not sure…
Thanks for the reminder, though. I immediately went off for a fuddle around (blimey, it’s a messy site!) and found some lovely reviews I hadn’t seen before.
Yes. Some people review only on goodreads, and I’m trying to keep up with putting links to all my book’s reviews on my website and my book’s facebook page.
Yep. Always. When I first started it was like checking the stock market every morning 🙂 These days I’m kinda more relaxed about reviews.
Not usually unless someone tags me in to a particular review.
I hope so as I put more reviews on Goodreads than Amazon!
I tend only to review on Goodreads but I do read them anywhere and everywhere 😉

I don’t like the facility to leave just a star rating with no comment. I fyou are going to leave a 1-star, I think it’s only fair to give a reason.

@Rob one of the reasons I don’t look at it – I’d be too upset

I’m lucky that mine are pretty much the same rating on both
I noticed readers in America were rating my book on Goodreads. So I interact with them as much as possible.
I read both – I appreciate any reviews! ?
I forget to read the reviews on Goodreads most of the time to be honest.
I agree that it’s not such an intuitive system.

Yes. So needy. So very needy.
No I never check GoodReads unless someone tags me in an FB post related to a new review.

I read both, I’m happy to receive any reviews!
I always post reviews on Goodreads and Amazon x3 and Netgalley when I get books from them.
I do appreciate your recommendations on Goodreads Jackie!
