Really? I loved the books more because I didn’t imagine them being glittery vampires. lol The way I imagined them was so much better. Plus, I feel like Kristen Stewart really ruined it for me.
@Rebecca-Jayn I guess we’re all different! I usually try to read the book before I see the film and I didn’t in this case, which may have made a big difference x
Oh really? I much preferred the book. I thought the setting and the manner of how she got the messages was better in the book and the parents relationship. If they kept that the same I’d have loved the film xx
@Anna I’m normally like what you did and watch the film first as I find if I read a book first I never enjoy the film. I read the book of this first and cried my eyes out, I didn’t make it past 20 minutes into the film before turning it off and I’ve only ever turned 2 films off in my life haha x
I’ve only just read the first one after more than 30 years of watching the film and I was really disappointed. I can see why Walt Disney wanted to adapt the book so much. x
@Jodie oh really? It’s hard to get the books when the films are made better, it’s normally that films aren’t anywhere near as good as the books. I will read one soon and see what I make of it x
@Amanda No not at all,I was just curious after someone mentioned The African Queen,which is a really old film.OMG The leeches….. I am 69 physically but stopped at 42…
@Emma the book had lots of words that I needed a dictionary for, I didn’t have to worry about that with the film, also I cried so much at the film which was therapeutic.
Ok ! Miss peregrines home for peculiar children was quite good!?… Not sure I can go so far as to say better though…I mean can you really beat the imagination that a book evokes?… The film takes that away a little, don’t you think?
@Dayna yes it does, however for me the only one I can say I have enjoyed more as a film is lord of the rings, but I think that’s because the books are so not dyslexic friendly.
@Amanda ahhh yes they are good!… If a little lengthy!…mind you so much would be lost if they attempted to shorten them further…I know a lot still ended on the cuttings floor!
@Louise I had the book big after watching the film and crying and being so upset I never read it, I gave it away ? migjt have to be brave and get it again
@Amanda it is very, very rare that I would recommend a movie/Tv series over the book, but I really loved The TV series. The books are good, but the chemistry in the TV series is sooo much better! Enjoy!! Xo
Powwow Highway
The book was… Not good.
@Corinne never heard of it. Thank you. 🙂
In her shoes
The African Queen.
@Jenny Never read it but will now have to although I suspect you’re right.

Really? I loved the books more because I didn’t imagine them being glittery vampires. lol The way I imagined them was so much better. Plus, I feel like Kristen Stewart really ruined it for me.
Not a film but I love the handmaids tale tv series way better than the book
@Justine Noooooo……….even though the series is fantastic. This was one televised production that equalled the book though.
The notebook.
I’m not a fan of either, but definitely agree the movie is better.
@Corinne the book was awful so film wins by default ?

P.S. I love you – I much preferred the film
@Anna really? Wow x each to their own I guess but I didn’t get any emotion from the film but the book had me crying buckets ?
@Rebecca-Jayn I guess we’re all different! I usually try to read the book before I see the film and I didn’t in this case, which may have made a big difference x
Oh really? I much preferred the book. I thought the setting and the manner of how she got the messages was better in the book and the parents relationship. If they kept that the same I’d have loved the film xx

Mary Poppins
@Jodie I have the books on my wish list
I’ve only just read the first one after more than 30 years of watching the film and I was really disappointed. I can see why Walt Disney wanted to adapt the book so much. x
@Jodie oh really? It’s hard to get the books when the films are made better, it’s normally that films aren’t anywhere near as good as the books. I will read one soon and see what I make of it x
@Jodie I couldn’t agree more.
@Amanda just out of interest how old are you?
I suspect most of the group are younger than me.
@Linda 40. Does that matter?
@Amanda No not at all,I was just curious after someone mentioned The African Queen,which is a really old film.OMG The leeches…..

@Rachie Really? I was really disappointed with the film:(
@Emma the book had lots of words that I needed a dictionary for, I didn’t have to worry about that with the film, also I cried so much at the film which was therapeutic.
@Rachie I wasn’t moved by the film at all but the book I sobbed.
@Emma we’re all different and it’s a good job too.
@Rachie it’s the beauty of life 🙂

@Monique the book all the way.
@Amanda I just love the film version of the book because it’s come to life. Read the book many times.

Stardust.
I actually can’t think of a film that is better than the book!!!
Legally Blonde
The Princess Bride
Blade Runner. The movie is a work of genius, the book Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep I found much clunkier and less sophisticated.
Gone girl
@Naomi i agree!
I didn’t even complete the book?
@Naomi same??
@Hayley same as girl on the train
Didn’t even bother reading it ?
It was honestly as bad as gone girl?
Girl on the train film is diabolical @Naomi ?????
I didn’t even waste my time with the film. I meant the book was as bad as gone girl??
@Naomi I wish we’d not bothered. I love Gone Girl, both book and film 🙂
Such a shame as Emily Blunt is a fantastic actress. Gone girl book was all over the place, really liked the film though
@Naomi she was the only redeeming factor of the whole thing. The whole changing where they lived made no sense to start with ??
Did you know there is now a play adaption of it???
@Naomi I’m going to ignore you said that ??

@Dayna yes it does, however for me the only one I can say I have enjoyed more as a film is lord of the rings, but I think that’s because the books are so not dyslexic friendly.

@Rachie so true! Will add it to my to read list ? I’m such a sucker for sad ending, cry at most of them and even the tv. My hubby laughs at me lol x
