I’m biased because I write short stories. But some of the best fiction I’ve ever read has been in the short story format. Hemingway was a master of the short story. Jack London wrote great stories such as “To Build a Fire.” “The Snake” by John Steinbeck is one of the creepiest stories I ever read. Ray Bradbury wrote marvelous short stories.
Length doesn’t matter at all. Short stories are harder to write according to me. Nothing tops Chekhov’s stories or Dubliners by the dude who made me sleep or the detailed unassuming stories by O Henry. Itwould even keep a non reader interested.
I love good short stories!?

I love short stories. I read them to decompress after an epic series, . . . or when I just can’t focus long enough to get into a novel. ?
I like short mysteries or psychological thrillers. Never can find that many though.
