My sister and I share my Amazon account so she told me tonight to not buy anymore till I’ve read what I have. I constantly wait for books to drop and I jump on them when they drop
@Heather, Wow! Sounds to me like people who are jealous you have an internal life they can’t be a part of. Give them a book tell them to read and remind them that people who read are 68% less stressed than people who don’t.
Oh yeah all the time!! My bookshelves are mounted on my bedroom outer wall. Plus I have stacks underneath the windows on the same wall. My husband insists that one day the wall is going to collapse that side of the house from all the weight!! But I keep getting books anyway ?
Nope but in my house we all have our “addictions”. Mine and a daughters is books, hubbys is abandoned instruments and another daughters is makeup. It works lol.
My hubby says I have books I still need to read, but then takes me to book stores! ? I just tell people “well what about you spending money on this or that? At least I can get enjoyment numerous times with books!” ??
Reading is a Passion that cannot be ignored or denied. It just IS. If I ever get married again (haha) I would put in the vows, “ Do you take this Woman AND her BOOKs and her Crochet talents to be your Wife?”
Every time there’s a parcel tag in the mail hubby says, “Did you order MORE books from Amazon?” LOL. Hey, there are addictions A LOT worse than books ??
My mother used to get mad at me about buying books and told me I spent too much money on them. Yeah. That started when I was in grade school spending $0.10 to $.35 per book through Scholastic in the 50s and 60s. Too bad she didn’t live to see that spendthrift daughter become a book reviewer. LOL
Everytime I order a new book my husband gets so aggravated! He thinks I have enough, he goes and tells his mom she tells me to sell them I’m like No Way! I just get more
Yes, and I tell “them” (aka my husband) that is just crazy talk. It’s like him having to drink all his beer before ever buying more, even though there may be super-amazing beer out there he hasn’t tried yet. And, it may even be on sale!
Yes ?
My sister and I share my Amazon account so she told me tonight to not buy anymore till I’ve read what I have. I constantly wait for books to drop and I jump on them when they drop
I try to tell myself that actually
Nope.
One of the joys of being single: ???????
I’m single too. Chronically ill but live with my parents
@Heather, I’m sorry to hear about your health issue. It’s wonderful that you have the support of your parents. ❤
Thank you… I don’t know where I’d be without them
I don’t discuss my buying habits with my family….but I do keep telling myself that! (I don’t listen sometimes!)
Lou, I don’t either but we share Amazon Prime
My daughter in law tried to get me to drop mine and share theirs but no way!!
No one would darn!
They dared lol
@Heather, Wow! Sounds to me like people who are jealous you have an internal life they can’t be a part of. Give them a book tell them to read and remind them that people who read are 68% less stressed than people who don’t.
@Denise, it’s my sister lol
@Heather, family members who aren’t readers don’t get it. You just have to forgive them and keep reading.
Yes ?
My kids all the time
Never
Me when they try….yes I need more…in case the apocalypse happens
No. I’m going to stock up. I don’t know where I will put the new books but I’ll figure it out.
Yes! My husband does everyday!
Oh yeah all the time!! My bookshelves are mounted on my bedroom outer wall. Plus I have stacks underneath the windows on the same wall. My husband insists that one day the wall is going to collapse that side of the house from all the weight!! But I keep getting books anyway ?
i think those words tried to come out of my husbands mouth until i showed him the error to his thinking lol
I have a Kindle so no books are hanging around except for ones I’ve won on Goodreads
They have tried, I will probably still have Books on my Kindle and Bookcase when I die that I hadn’t read yet
My adult daughter all the time.
I just keep getting books and tell her, some day they will be all yours.!! Lol
Yes, but without much heat behind the words.
All the time
My daughter always tells me that no one needs that many books.
How dare they!!
Yes! My kids and husband!
They wouldn’t dare ??
Time to unshare your amazon acct with your sister.
I breathe, I read.
Yes .. my mom ???
Nope. I dont need that kind of negativity in my life lol.
I had that problem, now I own a kindle. Lol
My husband all the time.
Yep
All the time. Only it’s “stop requesting books from the library.” As if!
Yes, my husband tells me I will not live long enough to read all the books I have
Yes
All the time
Daily!
Contently
All the time!!
LOL!!! True!
All the time.
They had better never! Luckily, the other half reads too. It really wouldn’t matter if he didn’t, I’m feisty.
Ha. ha. Yes.
Yes all the time
Never. They are as guilty as I am
And we no longer speak ?
They just don’t understand!
Nope but in my house we all have our “addictions”. Mine and a daughters is books, hubbys is abandoned instruments and another daughters is makeup. It works lol.
With a kindle they don’t know I have 2000 books
No – we’re all a family of bookworms, so they share my “problem.”
I say it to myself all the time.
Used to hear it from some people but thankfully my husband pretty okay with my book obsession.
But I don’t listen!!
I hear that all the time lol
Nope, and I don’t tell him to stop tinkering with the motorcycle, John Deere mower and snow blower. Everyone needs their toys.
Absolutely
I tell my daughter @Madalyn this all the time. ?
My hubby says I have books I still need to read, but then takes me to book stores! ?
I just tell people “well what about you spending money on this or that? At least I can get enjoyment numerous times with books!” ??
My family wouldn’t dare 🙂
Exactly my comment. Tell them better than (list something terrible) shuts people up lol
I hide them on my kindle!!
My hubby teases me but it’s in good fun. I always tell him I could be sitting in a bar lol
My kids try to tell me that. ?
They wouldn’t dare!!
Yes! But I didn’t listen!
Frequently.
Yup. I just smile and shrug…
They wouldn’t dare!
lol yep but I’m actually trying to do both.
No, but there is some degree of eye rolling
no because they know I would slap them!
They know better!
Yes, my husband ?
Yes. What’s wrong with them???
The whole house is messy, so hubby doesn’t notice the huge pile of books on my nightstand. And he has no clue about the Kindle collection
Smart girl!! ?
Nope… my hubby gave up on that a long time ago!! ?
My son and I consider it a big accomplishment if I can walk past any book table and not stop!
All the time!
Yep
Altho with my Kindle, they’re not visible and I can buy all I want!!
Yes and I have a very effective strategy for it. Smile and walk into the nearest book store.
That’s why I hide all my books in my kindle. No one can see what I buy. ??
Just Ignore! Tune out! Smile.
If i get krap from people, I used to say “ I will Pray for you.” That shut them up.
^^^lmao!
My ex/husband recently said, “no more books.” I said “I’m so glad we’re getting divorced!”
Reading is a Passion that cannot be ignored or denied. It just IS. If I ever get married again (haha) I would put in the vows, “ Do you take this Woman AND her BOOKs and her Crochet talents to be your Wife?”
Nobody at my house would dare. They like their heads attached to their bodies.
I just bought another book lol ?????
Yup!
Every time there’s a parcel tag in the mail hubby says, “Did you order MORE books from Amazon?” LOL. Hey, there are addictions A LOT worse than books ??
That’s right! I always say it keeps me off the streets. ?
@Beverly I tell my kids it keeps me out of the bars!
@Laura And books are cheaper than buying drinks!
You can never have too many books!
Nope & I love the iPad & my phone cuz I have over 1300 on my apps to get through!
Oh, the guilt….and then I do it again, and again, and again. You are my peeps ❤️??????
Yes but so many books so little time!
Unfortunately, I do but I ignore him.
My family doesn’t get my need for more books. When asked what I want for a gift, I say get me a gift card so I can get a book they ignore my? request
They are Not listening to you. There are ways to get around it though, if you get my drift-;)
Yep, I know and I do it ! ?
No thank goodness! My addiction is well supported.
My husband every day ?
Nope. It is my obsession. My husband has his own. So we neither of says anything like that ever.
That’s just too negative! ?
They wouldn’t dare!
Shoot…..I would tell my family to go to…….well, ya know…
Me! But interestingly I seem to go deaf every time the subject comes up ?
My mother used to get mad at me about buying books and told me I spent too much money on them. Yeah. That started when I was in grade school spending $0.10 to $.35 per book through Scholastic in the 50s and 60s. Too bad she didn’t live to see that spendthrift daughter become a book reviewer. LOL
I think “Diary of Anne Frank” was the first book I bought in grade school-I couldn’t wait for it to come!!!
Great job!
Mine do. But I don’t listen.
My EX did once…
Mine gave up.
Yup
YES!
Nope because they know they would just be wasting their breath
Um, I’m so careful with money that I might be the saying that. Am I bad?
Not if you are saying it to yourself. You know what you can and can’t afford. 😀
Everytime I order a new book my husband gets so aggravated! He thinks I have enough, he goes and tells his mom she tells me to sell them I’m like No Way! I just get more
I never listen to a sentence that starts with “Stop buying books.” ;P
Yes, and I tell “them” (aka my husband) that is just crazy talk. It’s like him having to drink all his beer before ever buying more, even though there may be super-amazing beer out there he hasn’t tried yet. And, it may even be on sale!
Oh hell no — that would be the pot calling the kettle black!
?♀️ guilty
Omg this is my house! (Shhhh…. I just bought 3 today!)
Just tell them…” Why you talking sooo crazy?”
It was my sister. I get where she’s coming from. You need to jump on good deals lol
They can try! But it won’t work!
My daughter used to but she gave up. I feed her so she leaves my book buying alone???
Lol
Considering the amount I have, they stopped long ago
Yes. Better question: do we listen? NO!
That’s right!
Absolutely, and it doesn’t help that all three of us are readers, fighting for shelf space
One plus about a digital reader no book space to fight over. ?
@Denise, exactly
They wouldn’t dare. 😉
My family minds their own business…
Mine buy me books, and give me gift cards. My husband loves how big I smile when there is book mail.
Yes, all the time…but do I listen? Nooooo. LOL
Says me to myself. I can’t keep up with my TBR pile.
Oh yes!! My husband! ??????
My Granddaughters say I am my own library!?
No—my husband knows better, and my kid takes after me!!
I use the Library but so miss keeping them.
Yep, but I don’t listen
Lol. No but my husband tells me that’s all I do. He forgets I work full time and write full time so reading is my down time
