hmm… you get sucked into a world created by the author, the Male lead is usually an alpha and often an anti-hero or just full on dangerous, sexy alpha. There’s usually special abilities the characters have. If it’s dark then it likely has sex scenes and maybe has scenes that could be suspenseful for some and bone-chilling for others.

Dark fantasy has no romance as a primary plot unless it’s specifically classified as romance. Dark fantasy is usually like dark fae or sorcery, etc. it’s bloody brilliance

Dark fantasy romance could imply dark violent elements and/or dark sexual themes
