if it has a good storyline, and the romance isn’t instalove (as I call it), and believable, then it usually earns my interest. I hope that makes sense.
Jordan Edwards sure does! Its what i also enjoy and hope to read/write. I also like seeing a good balance of action and plot where its not just all about the couple.
@LIz I like the romance to build up over time, and it needs to support the progression of the plot line/story, not the other way around. I sometimes feel some authors put romance into a story that doesn’t need it just for sales, and I’m all for it being there, as long as it fits and supports the story. Like you said, it’s all about balance.
You write? That’s awesome! Has anything you’ve written been published and available for reading?
@Jordan exactly. I feel the same! Like any real relarionships, love is built up and strengened over time. Yes! I published Asunder, a (guess what) heroic fantasy romance! Haha… when i wrote i really wanted to have that good balance of fight scenes, heroic adventure, and a deep plot with that developing love. Its about a theif who turns his back on the guild to save and return home the princess whom they had just kidnapped. Perhaps sounds cliche in my 1 line elevator pitch but its more that that. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B07CWGZMGQ/ref=dbs_a_w_dp_b07cwgzmgq
@LIz i read the synopsis from the link you provided, and it sounds very interesting. Thieves, stolen princesses, developing love and deep plots, what’s not to love? I’m definitely adding it to my list of immediate books to read!
@Jordan thanks sir. I’m confident ive written a book that men can enjoy a bit of romance with their action and hope to have it known for that. I appreciate you taking the time to check it out. If you choose to read, dont forget to write a review!
@LIz I have already chosen to read it, based on your kindness, and the synopsis of the book! I’ll be purchasing the Kindle version in the morning and starting it immediately! I will be sure to leave an honest review, both on here and on amazon, if you’d like. Maybe, if I enjoy it, I can purchase a signed paperback edition for my autographed books collection! ?
@Jordan ? you are too kind. Thank you. I hope you enjoy as I sign my books with a sketch of Alden ? ill be figuring out selling signed copies soon which will be available on my website. Comes with swag too!
That’s what I repeatedly end up writing, by accident or design, though not what I specifically set out to read. That said, a well written romance in a fantasy novel easily becomes one of its most gripping elements for me, and Beren and Luthien is one of my favourite tales from all I’ve ever read to date.
Depending on how it is done, I do enjoy a good fantasy romance!
What earns your interest?

@Jordan makes sense to me… many call it insta love. I don’t like that either. ?
