“Macbeth: A Novel” by: A. J. Hartley, David Hewson. If audiobooks are your thing I highly recommend the narration by Alan Cumming. But either way it’s such a great book, builds a lot of character and backstory around the play and is all around fantastic.
James Robertson- “And the Land Lay Still.” No offense to those recommending “The Bookshop on the Corner” but I read that as an escape and found it to be terrible. And I am Scottish ?
I quite like Alexander McCall Smith’s 44 Scotland Street collection. I used to live in Edinburgh and recognise all the places in his books to the point that I feel like I’m back there
If you like historical fiction Nigel Tranter (I think that is how he spells it), writes credible stories on William Wallace, and believe me it’s nothing like Braveheart.
Corrag by Susan Fletcher. It has an alternate title: The Highland Witch. Beautiful writing, awesome story. One of my favorite novels. Historical fiction.
@Brenda Just checked this out on Amazon as it sounds interesting! Funnily enough, I was in Glen Coe about 2 months ago and learnt about the Battle of Glencoe, it’s amazing how such a horrible event could take place in such a beautiful place. Will definitely be reading this!

Donna Grant has the amazing Dark series set in Scotland and Karen Marie Moning has a great Highlanders series. Both are paranormal romance series
