I personally could not get through the first one. I got about 1/3 of the way in, and struggled with staying awake because I felt she rambled a lot. I know a lot of people love them, but her writing style was just not my thing. I hope you love it!
I feel the same way, I’m at page 110 and have only been able to read a couple pages at a time. I’m getting annoyed every time she calls Jamie “My patient,” please we all know what’s going to happen, just saying
I have read quite a few of them and enjoyed them. I got a little burnt out and just haven’t managed to get back to them. I need to start reading them again – the tv series has caught up with where I stopped! ?
I love Outlander. I am on the 5th book now. I will say that it does sometimes take me an embarrassingly long time to get through the books. First, simply because of just how long they are. And sometimes they are bogged down by too many details, etc. But I really love the characters and the storyline so I keep wanting to know what happens next. I love the TV series as well.
Read the first one, meh; gave up on second one after 100 pages. Not my cup of tea. My sister, on the other hand (who kept nagging me to read the series) re-read from the first book, every time a new book was due to come out. She really liked the series. She’s also a much faster reader than I am.
Have read them all a few times and have listened a couple of times too. I love them. The Audible versions are particularly amazing and bring the story to life
I read them 20 years ago when I was in HS and stopped after the 4th 1, DOA because the 5th hadn’t come out yet and by the time it did (2 years later) I was just too busy with my AP classes senior year. Then college, working full time and taking care of my disabled father left me no time to read for fun.
This book has a lot of loyal followers, but I’m not one of them. I read the first one expecting time travel and history. I felt like she did a fabulous job describing the time period and place, but really, it was ALL about the bonking. I got three quarters of the way through and thought geez Louise, are they at it again, and I stopped reading. Had I been 14 and in my Mills & Boon phase, it would have been great. But I’m a little past that.
LOVED the books. Read the first four before the series was out. Firey Cross is hard to get into, but if you listen to the audio instead, it’s completely captivating.
The author is extremely “flowery” and tends drag the details on and on but I’m on the second book and still enjoying it. Now what everyone should try out is the audiobook! Davina Porter is an INCREDIBLE narrator and has the accents and pronunciations down.
I could not get into it. I was fighting to get to page 60 in the first book. BUT that does not mean they are bad, just not for me. Many people love them, so enjoy the ride! 🙂
I loved Outlander and then got to the second one and struggled through it. I haven’t picked it back up, though I did purchase the 3rd book in the series for .50 cents in a thrift shop so may try to get back into it in the future.

I felt the same way. Only got about 150 pages in.

I have read quite a few of them and enjoyed them. I got a little burnt out and just haven’t managed to get back to them. I need to start reading them again – the tv series has caught up with where I stopped! ?

I’ve read books 1-4 and I loved them but I’ve been stuck on book 5 for 6 years now having a hard time getting through that one.
Loved the first two! Haven’t read any further than that yet though.

Yes!
I read the whole series well before Jamie Fraser became an obsession of many women (and some men) around the world ? Enjoyed all of them.
I couldn’t get into it, however my friend LOVES them.
Most people love them, but I just couldn’t get into them.
I loved them
Loved it but it took me at least to page 100 to like it. If my friend wasn’t forcing me to keep going I probably wouldn’t have but so glad I did.
Love love Outlander and the rest of the books. I usually re-read them every couple of years!
On the TBR pile
I love them-it took me two attempts to get through the first part of book one then became addicted and read all of them back to back
I love them!
Loved them
Addicted. Re-read often.
Love them!! I was actually just thinking about re reading them
Absolutely loved them – that is not to say there weren’t slow points and some parts that were disturbing but overall I loved them
Very much! I am on the 6th book, though I take breaks in between. I love historical fiction. These are well written.
I’ve read the series and the first book is one of my all time favorites
Have read them all a few times and have listened a couple of times too. I love them. The Audible versions are particularly amazing and bring the story to life

Love the entire series! Now I’m listening to the audio version which is so fun!!
I read the first 6 and loved them! I’m also listening to the audio of the first one, Outlander.
I really enjoyed this series! I am going to reread
I love these books so much so far. I’m getting ready to start book 5.
I’ve read them all and loved them. Was so sad to reach the end of the last one. Haven’t read any of the short stories though.
I read them 20 years ago when I was in HS and stopped after the 4th 1, DOA because the 5th hadn’t come out yet and by the time it did (2 years later) I was just too busy with my AP classes senior year. I’m listening to it on audible atm it’s good ?
It wasn’t my cup of tea but I sure am in the minority
barely read few chapters of book #2 and i drop it … not my thing

I’ve read all of them and I’m anxiously awaiting the 9th book coming out this year!!
I tried my hardest to like it! It really kills me not finishing a book I started but with Outlander I couldn’t.
I quit after about 4…
Love love love them all!!!
Loved those books.
Not a big fan either. It dragged so badly!
Loved every songle one
Love every book in the Outlander series and her Lord John Grey series too!
LOVED the books. Read the first four before the series was out. Firey Cross is hard to get into, but if you listen to the audio instead, it’s completely captivating.
Love this series!!
YES YES YES
Fantastic books !!
They were okay. Not my favourites but not bad, either.
I’ve ❤️ reading them
I only read to the 4th book and it’s pretty good, I need to reread them soon. Just a heads up sometimes the plot/ story line gets slow.
LOVE!!!
THey are great.
Loved the books!
My absolute FAVORITE ❤️
Yes!!
Love them!
Yes!
I personally haven’t read them but my mum and her best friend are obsessed
Gonna be the odd one out: no. I did not like them
Nope, didn’t like the book at all!
Really no. But that might be because I’m Scottish and a lot of the details are just way off…
I have read 6 chapters now but I will maybe only read this one. Its in I-form and I think its makes it harder to read ?
Loved it!
Yes. I really love the TV series. Waiting on season 4.

It’s a long read but I enjoyed it. The characters ate very close to my heart.
I could not get into it. I was fighting to get to page 60 in the first book. BUT that does not mean they are bad, just not for me. Many people love them, so enjoy the ride! 🙂
She needs a good editor.
