Agreed! It’s getting old hearing (reading) about how she’s always “dropping the mic” and shutting ppl down on twitter. How does she have so much time to jump in the middle of twitter wars, shouldn’t she be writing?
@Ruth okay now that I have noticed!!! I seriously don’t get the obsession with her!!! even outside of her precious Harry, she is famous on her own seems people can’t get enough of her and always talking about her. Do you know, has she done any work outside of the potter series??
@Tabatha I only know this b/c as I scroll through my fb newsfeed I see Times mag articles or book blogger articles (etc.) about how “badass J.K. Rowling is! She just shut down so-and-so on twitter!” Idk where any of you guys are, but I’m in the U.S. and after Trump she really started waging a twitter war so it kept being reported over here. She’s not a politician, and as far as I know, still lives in the UK, and unless she’s gonna remedy that, I think she needs to just stay in her own backyard and write her books.
@Ruth she’s done that detective mystery series under a male pseudonym. I’m not gonna lie, I’m interested in reading it, but I’ve got too many others I’m more interested in first.
I definitely think she’s a writer; however I doubt she ever meant for her diary to be published so I think we can’t (or shouldn’t) comment on her as an actual author. Especially considering this is the dairy of a very young girl. She could have written the next bestseller, for all we know, had she been given a chance.
Um, anne frank was a young woman who hid with her family in ww2 so she and her family wouldn’t be gassed. She didnt intend on her diary to be published. It was done so to show the other side and reality of her situation. ?
Yeah I’m pretty sure Anne Frank is not and should not be the subject of humor. Not that I’m angry, I thought it was a genuine question and tried to answer it to the best of my ability 🙂
Oh I also really really didn’t like the “baby blues” author, her name escapes me right now but she has a ton of books, and I had to force feed myself to get thru that one and won’t do it Again
I read two that I LOVED, got a third, and seriously struggled with wanting to set it on fire!! I’m going to attempted a fourth, and I will be very sour if I hate it lol
I was waiting for someone to comment jk Rowling lol I love the Harry Potter series btw but I knew there was going to be people who posted her name on here lol
@Ariannah maybe. My cousin was telling me she loved diary of a wimpy kid, dear dork diaries, and something else and I was like….no thanks lol generational gap
I said Rowling as well and I have already had someone reply back, ‘No.’. Ha! That is ok though as I like Grisham and a lot of people on here I see do not…
@John I wasn’t mocking her or telling her she couldn’t say she didn’t like Rowling lol I was just waiting for it because when people say they don’t like Harry Potter it’s always a shock to me lol but I grew up with Harry Potter. I actually can’t get through her books anymore but they have so many memories for me that it’s always shocking when people tell me they don’t like them
@Lorraine Oh sure I agree…I figured I was going to get a ‘shock’ comment or such since Rowling is so immensely popular…that is what art is about – liking what appeals to you…
I’ve only read a small sample of his writing so far, (Different seasons, a couple of stories from that book), and the introduction to “The Gunslinger” and I don’t think even HE thinks he is all that. He just writes a heck of a lot of books.
Veronica Roth. The way she ended the Divergent series. It was horrible. It wasn’t even a decent tragedy style like John Green’s The Fault In Our Stars. It was like she just got to the end and decided, oh, yeah, Imma do this. Completely anticlimactic and unpolished.
I know. Definitely in the minority. I just don’t enjoy other people’s imagination. I read very few fiction books. But, I do like comedy. A lot of that is based on truth. I read a lot of biographies.
With me I’ve only read 3 books by him. IT, The Shining and The Dark Tower: The Gunslinger. The Shining I liked the other 2 no. So for popular authors he was the only one that came to mind. I’m sure his other works are good.
I read his early books. ..Cujo…Firestarter. ..Thinner. ..Insomnia and liked them. Then it seemed the writing was getting much darker and there was a lot of violence toward children. That’s when I stopped reading him.
I don’t like horror movies but his writing is gorgeous and so insightful. If you wanted to try I’d start with something mild like The Girl That Loved Tom Gordon
@Darla it’s like I don’t even know you!!!! How do you not like those beautiful authors??? Well Nicolas Sparks I kinda get but Nor Roberts and Kristin Hannah???? ????(???)
I’m just not really into formula writing. Others I don’t like either. Like Steele and Patterson. Although I did like Patterson’s early novels. Plus I’m not much into romance. Remember though I love Conroy and Wells so I’m not a total loss. Haha.
My son doesn’t like Patterson not because he doesn’t like the writing (I don’t think he has ever read any) but because when he worked at the library it took him forever to reshelve all the Patterson books in all the places that they go. ?
Lol!!! I’m partial to Nora because she was the very first romance writer I read and I love her characters personalities and her dedication to her writing. Just found Kristin Hannah this year and love her books because they bring on the “feels”.
Stephen King
JK Rowling. I know I know. ?
Me too!!!

Agreed! It’s getting old hearing (reading) about how she’s always “dropping the mic” and shutting ppl down on twitter.
How does she have so much time to jump in the middle of twitter wars, shouldn’t she be writing?
@Victoria really? I had no idea lol I seriously pay no attention lol
And some people think the sun shines out of her….pen ?
@Ruth okay now that I have noticed!!! I seriously don’t get the obsession with her!!! even outside of her precious Harry, she is famous on her own seems people can’t get enough of her and always talking about her.
Do you know, has she done any work outside of the potter series??
She has done a few…The something vacancy ? I always joke she must have another mortagage to pay ?
@Tabatha I only know this b/c as I scroll through my fb newsfeed I see Times mag articles or book blogger articles (etc.) about how “badass J.K. Rowling is! She just shut down so-and-so on twitter!” Idk where any of you guys are, but I’m in the U.S. and after Trump she really started waging a twitter war so it kept being reported over here. @Ruth she’s done that detective mystery series under a male pseudonym. I’m not gonna lie, I’m interested in reading it, but I’ve got too many others I’m more interested in first.

Can Anna frank be considered a writer?
I definitely think she’s a writer; however I doubt she ever meant for her diary to be published so I think we can’t (or shouldn’t) comment on her as an actual author. Especially considering this is the dairy of a very young girl. She could have written the next bestseller, for all we know, had she been given a chance.
Also take into consideration that she did not write it in English so that’s another factor I think.
Um, anne frank was a young woman who hid with her family in ww2 so she and her family wouldn’t be gassed. She didnt intend on her diary to be published. It was done so to show the other side and reality of her situation. ?
Alright guys light up. I swear I wrote the comment as a joke. I guess Anne frank is not a subject of humor
Yeah I’m pretty sure Anne Frank is not and should not be the subject of humor.
Not that I’m angry, I thought it was a genuine question and tried to answer it to the best of my ability 🙂

I was waiting for someone to comment jk Rowling lol I love the Harry Potter series btw but I knew there was going to be people who posted her name on here lol
I think she’s a very engaging writer, I am just not a fan of her work. I think I was born too early to be the target appreciating audience.

I’ve only read a small sample of his writing so far, (Different seasons, a couple of stories from that book), and the introduction to “The Gunslinger” and I don’t think even HE thinks he is all that. He just writes a heck of a lot of books.

With me I’ve only read 3 books by him. IT, The Shining and The Dark Tower: The Gunslinger. The Shining I liked the other 2 no. So for popular authors he was the only one that came to mind. I’m sure his other works are good.
I like the topic and theme Stephen King takes. Also, the plots are brilliant. However, I dislike his narrative style.
