I found Hemingway’s ‘For Whom the Bell Tolls’ strangely moving and it left me with an interest in all things Spanish and the inter-play of politics between left and right.
Then Dale Brown’s Warrior Class, where he introduced a President as a villain that actually made a LOT of sense to me. (Thomas Nathanial Thorn, for those familiar with the McLanahan series)
Bill Myers’ Eli was powerful, as was Ted Dekker’s Circle Series.
Ayn Rand’s Atlas Shrugged more gave me words for things I had been feeling for years.
I read this book named the case of exploding mangoes by mohammed hanif and yes that humour of the protagonist in those dark times of his life definitely changed my perception about the obstacles i faced in my life:)
@Violet This book ? changed my life forever. I’d read it during the 70’s when I was 12 years old. On this time talk about Drugs was a TABOO between teenagers and adults. This book ? was about a 15 years old girl dairy that to about her own experience with Drugs and Dealers… It was a amazing journey to this girl named Alice. I must confess the truth this book had changed my life forever about the world’s drugs. Since I’d read it I’d never ever try or any kind of drugs during my entire life.
Kidnapped hit me like a hammer at eight years old before that it was my beloved Eagle comic. Kidnapped is like a fast paced movie, and Davy’s walk across the Highlands… well I still have that to do before moving on? I spent every Saturday morning in the local library from then on until the morning I went to see A Hard Day’s Night?… I did return to my library the following week.
