Louise Penny . Not only does her detective solve crimes, but she also teaches a valuable lesson about art, music, or social problems. Her characters are endearing, flawed, and eccentric and the detective Armand Gamache is brilliant. She has just completed the 13th book in the series which take place in the mythical village of Three Pines and in Montreal, Canada. The first novel is Still Life in which we meet the characters who appear in the entire series.
