Paperwhite! You need the one with the ambient backlight and avoid the Fire. I would just get distracted and I don’t like that back lighting on it when reading in bed.

I have the Voyage and it’s great.
The basic kindle one is good if you only read in bright light.
The paperwhite is good if you read in low light and are okay with only a touch screen.
The voyage is good if you want a button like experience turning pages and want to read in low light.
The Oasis If you want real buttons, readability in low light and a water resistant device.
All of these also work perfectly in direct sunlight.
A tablet won’t do that.
I like the Kindke white. It’s easier on my eyes.

Paperwhite is brilliant. It is lightweight, the backlighting settings are great, and it has a lot of features for a cheaper model. I love mine so much, I bought one for my husband for Christmas.
