I’ve just ordered the His Dark Materials books (based on my compiled stalking data from this site ? ha); is it YA? I don’t mind if it is…just curious..
Although it’s not a series, several of Marian Keyes’ books revolve around the Walsh family. Others may briefly mention a member of the family. “Watermelon” is the first and my favorite ????
Wicked lovely by Melissa Marr, Morganville Vampires by Rachel Caine, Shifters by Rachel Vincent, Black Dagger Brotherhood series by J R Ward, Dark Carpathian and GhostWalkers series by Christine Feehan, Dark Hunter series by Sherrilyn Kenyon, Guild Hunter and Psi-Changeling series by Nalini Singh, Lords of the Underworld, Alien Huntress, and Atlantis series by Gena Showalter, Wolves of Mercy Falls by Maggie Stiefvater.
Of those. Which is good for a pre teen who loved Harry Potter, hunger games, oksa Pollock, warrior cats… she loves a series or book that keeps you on your toes?
Oh I loved the trilogy by sharon Kay penman – began with Here Be Dragons. One of my favourites for sure. But he warned: you’ve just got to power through the first 150 pages of Here Be Dragons … it’s not an easy slog. But once you get there, it is amazing!!
Game of Thrones Lord of the Rings Dune Shogun Clan of the Cave Bear Pillars of the Earth The Sword of Truth The Dark Towers Interview with a Vampire Masters of Rome (Colleen McCullough, who wrote the Thorn Birds) —favorites, off the top of my head ??
If you are a fan of The Sword of Truth and Game of Thrones, would you be interested in a Medieval Fantasy series that’s basically a Harry Potter type character in a Game of Thrones type world?
I’ve been writing a book series called Taraquin and have been posting it on Wattpad. Here’s the link to the first half of book 1 in the series. I’m also posting the second half, but I posted it as book 2 for wattpad purposes.
Book 1 in the series isn’t done yet, but I’m about to hit 85k words. I’m guesstimating it will be completely done at around 110k. Then I need to do some editing before I try to get it published.
Yes, I saw this plug on another feed and I will check it out. I know it’s hard getting started and I’ll always support a new writer when I can. Best of luck to you..
If anyone is interested in the harry potter genre there’s a set of books out by Ben Aaronovitch, about a man called Peter Grant,he’s a constable, and a wizard. First one is called Rivers of London.
They are fantastic books. Funny poignant clever and very very 1950’s British – although the writer is Canadian. I have just ordered the 9th book – only when I looked them up for this post did I realise there was a new one!!!
Chaos Walking trilogy by Patrick Ness Under the Never Sky trilogy by Veronica Rossi The Thirteen series by Michelle Harrison Delirium trilogy by Lauren Oliver Once/Now/Then/After by Morris Gleitzman
For those of you who love Harry Potter or Game of Thrones, I’m writing a series that’s kind of a mash up of the two. I was told by a reader that it’s like Harry Potter meets Game of Thrones, so I started using that as a tagline, lol.
I came across this book in my early teens, and decades later I still say it is my favourite book!! Hubby isnt much of a reader, but he watched the movie and enjoyed it too 🙂

Clan of the cavebear – jean auel, chronicles of the cheysuli – Jennifer Roberson, tommo and Hawk – Bryce Courtney , lord of the rings
His Dark Materials by Philip Pullman. Loved them as a kid, still love them now. Already pre-ordered The Book of Dust that’s coming out in October.

It’s similar to Harry Potter in that it’s technically a children’s series but it’s enjoyable for adults too. They’re books that grow with you.
