The point of arcs is to promote the book and get reviews before the book is published. Netgalley is a great way to get some but different publishers look for different things including reviews and active social media platform as well as Goodreads and/or a blog. A lot of people get overwhelmed with netgalley because they will request stuff and not get approved but then they request too many and then they have to many approved… only request what you can commit to read or else it can become a miserable process very quickly and you will be reading arcs that you sort of want to read instead of nonarcs you really want to read. So be intentional about your requests and pay attention to the release date. Also there is a section for read now (I think that’s what it’s called) for books you can read in netgalley that don’t need approved.
