Charlie St Cloud by Ben Sherwood. It was everything I needed at the time that I read it. I haven’t read another book yet that has had a similar impact on me, so I consider it to be my favorite.
No, and that makes it all the more difficult! 🙂 I love non-fiction and fiction. I like horror and romance. I love Harry Potter. I love Christopher Moore, Brad Meltzer, Stephen King. I haven’t read any sci-fi and not much fantasy, though….
I just finished Stalking Jack the Ripper literally 5 minutes ago. It was fantastic! Thankfully I picked up Hunting Prince Dracula from the library the other day so I can start it right away. ?
“Beach Music” by Pat Conroy. This story has characters in it that seem so real to you that you hate for the book to end. The story starts out with a widowed young father and his daughter in Italy who moved there to escape the pain of the memories of his wife who committed suicide. Despite the fact that this book has sadness in it it also has humor and hope. Pat Conroy in his novels writes from his heart and has beautiful descriptive phrases.
I can’t pick one but I read Eliza and Her Monsters and Foolish Hearts last year. Both helped me while I was in a rut and they were both genres I don’t tend to enjoy!
Danielle steel novels though they have painful beginnings but the end of the novel brings hope. She bases her books on challenges and realities of life.
Victim: The Other Side of Murder by Gary Kinder because it had a huge impact on my life. I read it just before my sister was in an auto accident, then used the things the family in this book did to help her recovery. I just read The Last Thing She Ever Did by Gregg Olsen. Highly recommend it.
Read a great non fiction to get out of a rut…whatever topic that interests you. That helps me when I get in a rut, and have enjoyed it so much that now half the books I read are non fiction.
Either read a bunch of short stories or some excellent non fiction to get out of a rut. Or you could just take some time off until you find something of interest. Don’t put pressure on yourself to read when you don’t feel like it.

One that recently jumped into my top 10 is Kings of the Wyld, By Nicholas Eames.

Ruts are typically when I’ll do re-reads. My favorite authors to re-read are Mercedes Lackey (Valdemar Series) and Patricia Briggs. <3
I’m a HUGE fan of the reread. I do it often. I actually have a big pile of stuff to read, but can’t find the motivation.
@Brandy Aw. Do you have a favorite genre?

I just re-read Dog Stars by Peter Heller, for the second time. It is an almost perfect book in my opinion.
I just added it to the list! Thanks!
The Catcher in the Rye

I LOVE The In Death series by JD Robb. I fell in love with the characters. I also love A Man Called Ove. Any book that can make me cry is GREAT. ?

The Dinner by Herman Koch. Listened to it on audio. I don’t think I would have enjoyed it otherwise.
Mystery

Lots of great suggestions. I like going back to a favorite genre or series.
