The Kenzie and Gennaro Series by Dennis Lehane. The Broken Bonds Series by Trisha Wolfe (the first book, With Visions of Red is free on Amazon kindle). They both write gritty and complex mysteries that are beautifully written.
it’s VERY different from Lehane lol. Her writing is beautiful, like his, but it has more of a romance vibe than him. The way she weaves the story together is incredible though, so intricate.
Kathy Reichs, James Patterson, Meg Gardiner, Alex Kava, Robert Bryndza, Angela Marsons, MJ Arlidge, Lisa Gardner, Erica Spindler are all great authors.
Tony Hillerman wrote a series of really good murder mysteries involving Joe Leaphorn of the Tribal Police, taking place in the four-corners region. Not only good stories, they also contain tribal rituals and ceremonies, which the Navaho tribe officially rewarded him for documenting.
The Amelia Peabody series by Elizabeth Peters, and the Mrs. Pollifax series by Dorothy Gilman. Both a lot of fun. Third, The Mary Russell series by Laurie R. King. Fantastic writing.
