I found the Splintered series by A.G. Howard to be very descriptive– almost poetic, actually. Loved her writing style. It’s an Alice in Wonderland retelling (but technically, the plot is set long after the events of Alice’s time)
If you decide to check it out I hope you enjoy it! ☺️ It’s one of my favourites.
I’ll look into it!
Strange the Dreamer. ACOTAR
Cool!!! Thanks!
I second these recommends
Anything by Sarah J Maas, Leigh Bardugo and Kate Elliott. And the Tearling books.
Thank you!!!
I didn’t think Leigh Bardugo had great descriptions – unpopular opinion
@Caroline I thought the slums of The Barrel really came alive in her descriptions
@Tricia Yeah I thought her writing improved a lot with Six Of Crows, it was just the first Grisha book that I wasn’t a huge fan of – Shadow and Bone. Once I understood the world and everything, I ended up enjoying the series, but the first book kind of fell flat for me.
The burning sky, and deception. Great books, great settings.
Aside from Strange the Dreamer, literally anything Sarah J. Maas touches, also look into the Trial by Fire series by Josephine Angelini, Heartless by Marissa Meyer, and Cruel Beauty by Rosamund Hodge. 🙂
I’ve here SJM is good with description. I’ll have to check her books out.
They really, really are. I highly recommend if you haven’t read anything by her yet.
Yes they are! I love Throne Of Glass (didn’t like ACOTAR tho)
The Kiss Of Deception by Mary E. Pearson and Throne Of Glass by Sarah J. Maas
Strange the Dreamer by Laini Taylor!
YES
The Tiger’s Curse series. It’s amazing! And by far by favorite books to date
Seven Years Gone series. Book one is Seven Years Gone: Undesirable
You won’t be able to put them down.
I just finished Daughter of Smoke and Bone, super good. I thought Ally Condie’s series Matched is very detailed, the second two books move a little slower but it’s really well written.
Oh also Dream a Little Dream series by Kristin Geir, anything by Kierstin White or Lauren Oliver. Caraval by Stephanie Garber
