Anything by Joe Hill, Stephen King’s son..particularly NOS4A2 and Heart Shaped. Nick Cutter’s The Deep. You and it’s sequel Hidden Bodies by Caroline Kepnes
House of Leaves. Idk if I would consider it horror personally, but I think it is widely considered as such. Definitely psychological. One of my favorite reads.
Wow! This is an incredible and versatile list. I am a huge Mary Shelley fan so of course I love the psychology of Frankenstein, but all the others listed have the potential to be beyond terrifying. A real look into the human psyche. Thanks for sharing.
Stephen King books, but especially It and The Shining. Less horror, but still psych thrillers are his latest ones, Mr Mercedes trilogy and The Outsider.
The River at Night by Erika Ferencik, and I’ll go thirdsies on Bird Box. I also like Japanese horror, so I’d recommend The Graveyard Apartment by Mariko Koike or Six Four by Hideo Yokoyama.
Anytime someone asks for a psychological thriller I always recommend Greg Iles “Sleep No More”
Pretty much ANY Stephen King book, if you havent read anything from him before, make aure to check him out, he is brilliant in that genre

Stephen King is always a swing and miss for me, I’m not sure why.
Joe is different in my opinion. Some echoes there but they are very, very different in style. He’s worth a try.
@Desiree alright. Thank you
I’m the same way with King, his writing just doesn’t mesh with me. I’m half way though NOS4A2 and feeling exactly the same way.
Bram Stoker’s DRACULA ?♂️
Bird Box
I just started Bird Box this weekend. Took a bit to get into it, but seems like it is going to be a good one.
Loved it!

Check out the book riot link above for an excellent definition of psychological thriller verses psychological horror. Fascinating.
let the right one in. disturbing, terrifying, upsetting, disgusting and I could not out it down.
For unremitting negativity, ghastly existential terror, eldritch disgust, and darkling, noisome, caverness abysses of human despair, H.P. Lovecraft.
Lord that book kept me up for days.
