I’m reading my firs King novel – the shining – and I have to say, he has an amazing way with metaphors.

I love King! His Dark Tower series are my favorite books
I always thank Stephen King for being the author who sparked my love of reading at a young age. I’ve yet to read a bad King book, but I’m a bit biased too!
@Lyn same! Read the shining as a kid and was hooked for life haha
@Cláudia SAME!
@Lyn me too but is was The Stand first
I love King! Some say his books are too wordy and unnecessarily long. I eat up every sentence. He may take a bit longer to “get there” but WOW when all those details come together.
I’m glad you’re enjoying The Shining. It’s a good one!
@Becky yes exactly!
@Becky Yes! There’s nothing wrong with being wordy when the words take you on a journey! I would rather read a 1500 page King book than a 200 page book with clunky, crap writing
@Katie agreed!
He is one of my favorite authors. Occasionally I have trouble getting into his work but most of the time it just sucks me in and I can’t stop reading.
My most recent favorite of his was the Mr. Mercedes trilogy. I couldn’t put them down!
