Jennifer, I just finished it and although it was good I won’t read it again. I will send you my copy if you message me your address. (Not trying to be creepy just want someone to enjoy my book).
I got a copy after reading all the comments. I even found the movie based on the case from 1993. I remembered it came on but didn’t get to see it because I was 12 or 13 at the time & had school the next day.
A friend just gave me a copy last week. I was skimming it, thinking ‘this sounds familiar’. Many (many, many) years ago there was a movie made with Mary Tyler Moore as the lead. It was the first time I saw her as a manipulating woman and it blew my mind!
Just read it was feeling alittle disappointed from all the hype till I read the end and read about the history behind it. Not my favorite historical fiction book but I did like it. I think I had such high expectations from the reviews, when I read orphan train and Nightengale 2 of my favs they just came out and I was unexpectedly surprised.
Very good!
I agree
I was just getting online to see if my library has this book!
Awesome yet haunting book!
Excellent read!
I’m #202 on a waiting list online! ?
Going to look on my library site now. Hopefully will not have to wait that long!
Bought it on my Kindle. Couldn’t wait and it was GREAT!

Loved it.
Yes!!!
Added it to my ever-lengthening list. 😉
Why did everyone love the book? Details please
It was sweet and sad and based on a true story.
I just got that on my Kindel. ..can’t wait to get started.
I’d never heard of it.
Adding to my list for sure
I loved this book! Had to get it on my Kindle bc the library had such a long wait list and I wanted it for vacation.
Just picked it up from the library
Great book but sad.
Reading it now!
The book is a wonderful, and enlightening.
Based on a true event in history…her characters are memorable! A great read!
Oh, I couldn’t agree more. Great book, but how could this ever have happened?
I absolutely believe it could be true/possible. It was a different time, lack of education, people with money/power.
I won’t get into politics on here but everything that is happening with the familes at the borders… it’s a perfect example.
@Ann exactly ?
@Wittney – thank you
Really liked it!
My book club enjoyed it.
It’s on my list to read. I may have to bump it to the top!
I’m reading it now ..so good!!
I got a copy after reading all the comments. I even found the movie based on the case from 1993. I remembered it came on but didn’t get to see it because I was 12 or 13 at the time & had school the next day.

Added to the list. It keeps coming up in discussion.
Read it last month for one of my book clubs.
My book club loved it! A truly amazing book based on a true story!
Loved loved loved that book!! Couldn’t put it down! Highly recommend!
I put a hold on the large print copy so I wouldn’t have to wait so long…and maybe no reading glasses necessary! Win-win ?
It’s definitely a buyer. I still have Rill’s voice swirling in my head. I’ve dived deeper into the the true story. It’s haunting me.
Definitely!
It sounds really sad though, don’t know if I could handle it. I like sad books except if its about children, then I can’t.
What a great book!
Saw the author at Half Price Books, NW Hwy, Dallas. Free, and she was a delightful speaker
Just finished for our book club. Not bad!
@Elvira @Kimberly @Toni @Cynthia has anyone read this book?
No I haven’t really sad subject matter
I read it last summer, it was a book club book. Good book but an emotional read.

It’s on my book club list for this coming year.
SOOOO good, it won historical fiction on Goodreads, so I will pay more attention to those books in the future 🙂 https://www.goodreads.com/choiceawards/best-books-2017

Your response is why I never pay attention to reviews, I listen to recommendations.
Before We Were Yours by Lisa Wingate is great – similar to Orphan Train.
I have read it & it was great! Now I’m reading series by Lisa Regan
Don’t believe I’ve ever heard of Lisa Regan.
It’s on my list!
