The movie was pretty different than the first book(I won’t spoil). It does help though since now you’re familiar with some of the characters, that is one of the most challenging aspects of the first book.
@Cindy I wish they kept them in all the books. I had to stop sometimes and figure out who was who like a cousin they never even mentioned in the first book aside from the family tree.
I really enjoyed the books – the first one was more difficult to keep the characters straight, but if you’ve seen the movie maybe you’ll have an easier time of it.
To be honest, I did not like the book. I found all the main characters to be either clueless or assholes, sometimes both. I get that she didn’t know he was rich, but that he wouldn’t think about how his family would react to her? Do you know your family at all? And how does she not see how manipulative and awful his family is? These are smart people but utterly clueless. Did not enjoy.
Srsly, not as good as the film. The main theme is some kind of judgement on a society that values appearance over reality, mindless loyalty to family and a rigid caste system. The problem is that the author beats it to death relentlessly, from page 1 to Le Fin. The film was a bit less heavy handed, and added a bit of character development for sparkle.
I liked the first movie better than the book. But I gotta say the second book was an outrageous soap opera but I had fun reading it. Perfect beach read.
I loved the first book. When I started the second as an audiobook, the narrator’s voice was very difficult for me. I am going to read them in print. However, this is a very personal issue – she probably is fine for 99% of the population. But- I listen to audiobooks for about 1 1/2 hours a day during my commute – which feels like a decent amount- and this is the only narrator I have decided I could not listen to, so that may say something.
i also listen to audiobooks because I spend so much time in my car. I read and enjoyed the first book in paperback on vacation. Tried to listen to the second and got bored and tired of the narrator.
I liked the books more than the movie, but I didn’t think the movie was bad. I picked up the first book at an airport for 1/2 price before getting on a plane home and read it the entire flight. LOL.
I loved the books, read all three, but keeping everybody straight got confusing after a bit. I loved the movie because it helped me see the book. I had to keep looking things up on google when I was reading ?
The books have so much more detailed story lines and many more characters both of which were left out.
@Jenny , thanks Jenny! I will read the series.
LOVED ALL OF THEM
LOVED THEM!!!
More fun than the movie, well worth the read. Great beach reads!
This series is on my books to read. I loved the movie!
I haven’t seen the movie, but the books are great

????
Books are better (which is often the case) and the movie was great
The books are great!
I really enjoyed them
I loved them! I was a really bad employee that week. It was so hard to focus on work when I didn’t want to stop reading that series!
I did not love the book as much as I did the movie. Can’t believe I just said that!!
I loved the movie. I loved the books. I really hope they continue to make more of the movies, because it was so fun!
Loved all 3 audiobooks!
They are really good. All of them.

Love all the books! Have not seen the movie…yet.

I loved the books!! Just watched the movie (literally ended like 10 minutes ago!) and it was good, but there’s SO MUCH it leaves out!!
I hated the first book – couldn’t finish it but I loved the movie
Tough to get into because of so many characters, but 50 pages in, I was hooked.
Listening to the audio book now! Love it!
The books are great but the story differs quite a bit from the movie. Definitely worth the read IMO.
The first two were good. I put down book 3 after a few chapters.
Love the books! You need the first book with the family trees (plural!) to keep track of the characters when you read the subsequent books
@Cindy I wish they kept them in all the books. I had to stop sometimes and figure out who was who like a cousin they never even mentioned in the first book aside from the family tree.
The books have so much more detail! They are really fun!
I liked them all!
Tried to watch the movie. Loved the book so much more. The movie feels rushed and changed many details I liked in the books
Books much better
Much better! You might need to keep a chart to keep all the characters straight!
I love the books!! Haven’t watched the movie yet though
I really enjoyed the books – the first one was more difficult to keep the characters straight, but if you’ve seen the movie maybe you’ll have an easier time of it.
Loved all 3! I read them and listened to them (immersion on Audible and Kindle). Listening was fun for pronunciation of some of the names.
The books are better.
Awesome! I loved them all!
Loved Crazy Rich Asians.
Ohhhhh how I love love love the books!!!
Movie was fun but the books are sooo much better

Even better
The books were fun!!!

I’ve enjoyed them. I’m on the third one now.
I liked the books better than the movie

I watched it this weekend and now I need to read the books!
@Michelle , me too!

I liked the book better but not a lot better. The books are pure brain candy!

I liked the books! First one is the best, you’ll have a few laughs
This is one of the rare times I can say, “I liked the movie better than the book.” I didn’t like the book (only read the 1st).
I liked the books more than the movie, but I didn’t think the movie was bad. I picked up the first book at an airport for 1/2 price before getting on a plane home and read it the entire flight. LOL.
Enjoyed books more than movie.
I loved the books, read all three, but keeping everybody straight got confusing after a bit. I loved the movie because it helped me see the book. I had to keep looking things up on google when I was reading ?
Enjoyed the books and gives insight into another world that many may not know about!
Loved.
Haven’t seen the movie, loved the books! They kind of made me gain five pounds ?♀️
Loved the books. I never see movies of books I have read as I am always disappointed in the movie.
@Heather , since I saw the movie first, I am hoping for even better reading the books! ?

Loved the books, read them first, and made the mistake of watching the movie. Book was SO much better!
Loved them. Fun, easy reads.
