Did anyone else struggle to get into Crazy Rich Asians?Did anyone else struggle to get into Crazy Rich Asians? Nikki #review
I gave up on the book and hope to enjoy the movie when it’s on Netflix.
Yes! I finally gave up ??♀️
Yes!! My mom loved it but I gave up.
Same with my mom! I couldn’t get into it.
Hard for the first few chapters but got much better!
Agree, glad I finished!
Definitely hard for a few chapters…I almost gave up but glad I didn’t. What a hilarious book! Actually all 3 were amazing!
I had to give up.
Yes! But I hung in there and enjoyed it, until I didn’t anymore. I felt like the trilogy went on a bit too long. ?
there are a lot of characters, but once you get to realize who is who, it’s so good!!
I read the 2nd one first, which really helped. 🙂
Yes but after about 100 pages I loved it.
Yes – way too many details!
Yes, bailed on it.
I had a serious issue with the bachelor party scene. It was extremely upsetting and left me crying.
Yes but it got better!
Yes and I had the audio version ?
Yes! Have to get at least half way before it picked up the story and stopped describing all the characters.
I think seeing the movie helped – I could picture people
Yes! Once I was able to keep the family members straight, it got much better. Thank goodness for the family tree visual. I ended up really enjoying the book-it was so much fun!
Yup. I saw the movie
Yes, I had a hard time with the footnotes and names. Once I got used to it, I really enjoyed the book!
Yep couldn’t get into it.
Yes, but then you are in! Just finished the third one.
Yes. Hated it. But I stuck it out. Now I refuse to watch the movie because of the lack of interest in the book.
The movie was fun. My husband and daughter loved it too
I really liked the movie. Trying to read the book now & having a hard time getting into it.
No loved it bought the next one to start soon
Yes. I listened to it and kept drifting off and getting confused. The movie made a lot more sense. ?
Yes! I tried twice a no bueno. But I LOVED the movie.
Once I got through the 1st part it was fine. I hated the sections with Nick’s mom & found myself skipping them.
Yes but I really enjoyed the movie!
It took me over half of the first book to get into it, but once I did, I loved all 3!
Same here! So glad i stuck it out. But only because so many people on here said to keep reading that it gets better.
Me! I gave up, just couldn’t get into it.
Tried, wasn’t feeling it. Want to see the movie though!
I finished it but didn’t really like it
I didn’t even try because it just didn’t appeal to me.
Thank you! I just started Part 2 and I’m having a hard time getting into it. Loved the movie, though. I definitely prefer the movie version of Piek Lin to the book version, lol. Akwafeena is awesome!
Yep. Gave up
I actually finished the first one today. It wasn’t my favorite book, but I’ll read the next two.
Yes!! Hated the whole book.
Yes!!! But stick with it, it’s so worth it.
No, I devoured it! All three of them actually. YMMV!
I see you Kathy Byrnes ?
I started the book, saw the movie, finished the book and am glad that the movie helped!
Me! I didn’t get very far, just did not find it enjoyable
It was slow in the beginning, but I did enjoy it. I actually think I liked the movie better though!
Yes! I struggled my way through that whole dang book.
I found it easier to listen to the audio book.
I listened and enjoyed it.
Yes… took me a long time, but I did finish it
I gave up
The movie was actually better in my opinion.
Yes!! I gave up.
I made a copy of the family tree In the front of the book and wrote various things on it as I read to tie it all together. It helped, and I enjoyed all three books.
Yes. But liked it in the long run
It’s been a while since I read it and I remember liking it but only towards the end.
I did, but I stuck it out and it was worth reading.
Good to know I’m not the only one!
I heard the book was difficult to navigate but the movie was excellent
Did not like
I read the first book on my kindle so I was able to use the X-ray function to go back and learn the characters. That helped to keep from confusing everyone but the X-ray doesn’t always tell you exactly what you want to know. I am reading the second book now and it flows much better. Probably because most of the characters are repeats.
Yes… I was surprised it was so hard to love. I’ve had reports the movie is so much easier.
Thought it was cut
I read it in a day. I loved it. Didn’t like the second book tho. Reading the third one now
I really liked it and have devoured whole series now. I just had to roll w it and not stress on who was related to who and enjoy the story. It took my OCD a bit to not refer to family tree but it’s not historical fiction. Loved readng about the locations. Kwan weaves it back together for the most part. Haven’t seen movie yet but looking forward to it.
Yes, I just put it down
I loved it. On the third book now!
No, but I lived in Singapore for a few years. It was spot-on, for me.
Yes. I started to like it about half way through, but I am going to pass on the other books in the series.
I did and I gave up.
Couldn’t do it
I loovveed the book. The movie can go.
I read the whole series.
yes, could not get thru it
I am struggling with the third one, I put it down for a little while to read something else
Not interested in reading it
I had to quit, but the movie was adorable. Rarely can you say the movie is better.
I just finished it. It was ok… not great.
Didn’t read it but just finished the sequel. It was tough keeping all the character together. Lots of characters but not a huge lot of development. Skimmed the surface on about 30 characters.
I couldn’t do it either.
