Ever read The Stand? I wasn’t scared in the traditional way, but I read it during cold and flu season and was very uncomfortable being out in public for several weeks lol.
I don’t tend to get scared while reading, but King can often catch me off guard and creep me out later. I was reading The Outsider earlier tonight and I put the book down to take my dog outside. My dog went off into the woods and I could hear her moving around, but couldn’t see her because it’s dark, and while I was waiting for her to come back I couldn’t help but imagine that the noises coming from the dark woods weren’t actually my dog, but were made from the killer in the book instead ? ?
Hm… One book came close, when I was in sixth/seventh grade, but I cannot remember the title. I have been searching for it for years based solely on what I think is its cover.
I haven’t either. There was a short story he did, can’t remember which book it’s from, about a finger that popped out of a drain I believe and the finger would hop around. That’s the closest I’ve came to being creeped out.

@Kayla yes! ?
that’s a massive book right? I bought it recently and thought it was going to be a tome but it was like over 1000 pages ^^
Yes. It’s massive. Took me three months to get through it lol
@Heleen yes…it is massive , but it is an easy read that never felt 1000 pages long. I finished it rahter quickly..very suspenseful
@Heleen. It took me forever to read it!!!
How’s the Mr. Mercedes trilogy? I got that from my brother for christmas :p
Read Salem’s lot
When I read Cujo, I dreamt of rabid dogs for a few days. Scared the hell out of me.
No books scare me ?
same, not even horror movies scare me anymore lately which is sad 🙁
@Cassandra. I’ve never been scared by a book either.
I’ve yet to read any book (by King, my favorite author) or anyone else that has actually scared me…I’m still waiting to find the one that does!
Read Pet Semetary! Scary and devastating. If you have pets or children, it will haunt you…and make you think of what choice you would make!
@Andrea This one breaks your heart and then stomps all over it. Read it in the ‘80’s and it still haunts me.
@Lesley Yes! ?
I also feel like I might have made the same choices he did ?
I didn’t find that one scary but definitely devastating…
@Andrea I had to stop reading it when a certain character died. Just too much.

Same here
Me either. I’ve been extremely creeped out but not actually scared.
Lisey’s Story is pretty creepy. I don’t know that I get scared by books…as long as I’m not alone anyway.?
I found Needful.things eerie
I have never watched or read anything that frightened me.

@Flo what was the cover?
It was a faceless nun holding a baby. One of the two had red eyes. Sadly, many books from the seventies and eighties shared similar covers.
I have a vague memory of the plot. A man possessed by the baby(?), has sharp headaches, and blackouts…I think. Something like that.
@Flo hmmm trying to think of it but not coming uo with any ideas
? Thank you. You would be my hero if you can find it.
Funny because I fear that if I did find it and reread it, I will be disappointed.
Saaaaame. His son, though! Joe Hill is amazing.
Try Pacific Viking by BArnaby Allen
The girl who loved Tom Gordon scared me
The shining
loved it and kind of creepy but not really scared of it though :p
