@Siri that sounds pretty interesting. I do like the MI series and I like foul mouthed anything lol. What is a Wushu warrior though? They sounds pretty cool
Belynda Rios Wushu means martial arts like Kung Fu, Tai chi, etc—basically a word the means all variations of Chinese Martial Arts (that actually originated in India)
Reading made me want to become a writer… I am an aspiring one at the moment. What with juggling four kids under 8 nd a full time job of mowing lawns, I still try to squeeze in some writing time. 😛
Those are definitely something I wanted to do, but by the time I found out about it is was a couple months later. At the moment I’m on Wattpad trying to do stories, they are just drafts at the moment (too scared to publish) and I have a bad habit of starting a new novel all the time. So I have 7 half written novels waiting for me. 😛
@Terehia I have a ton of new ones too! I write a new one every November. But it also helps me weed out what I think is great and what is just ok. Plus, writing is one of those skills that you just have to do it to get better lol
I have a Diary app where I write a new book Idea everyday , just just so I can go back and see what Is good and what is not. Plus I love to handwrite a lot so I lo he a lot of exercise books full of stories that I attempted to write when I was a teen (12 years ago) right up until I got my first smartphone.
I’m currently writing my first. It is set in Greece, during the WW2, when a young girl is confronted with the horrors of war. It is in honor of many Greek women who fought with the Resistance against the Nazis.
I hv written , but not published yet . The tittle is : the essence of the individual . A mystical , philosophical , and crypted book about the myth of government , politics , diversities …etc .
It’s about a girl in high school who has her mind sent on playing soccer and becoming a professional player. She then gets her knee hurt so bad she can never play again. you have to watch her lose the only thing to make her happy in her life in her life full of depression, anxiety, torment and bullying and watch her blossom to find something to make her happy again and that there is more love in her life than she ever knew.
( sometimes,we have to drawback to leap better ) . Very good , you wanna maintain the problems of failure , destiny , hydras …etc , with an optimistic view . about the word MAW you can check it and see its meaning urself , may be am messed up
I’d like to. I love historical fiction and would love to write historical fiction for children and young adults but the process of getting published seems so difficult. Might start just writing for fun and see where it leads.
That’s always a great idea!! And I follow a lot of publishers on like twitter so I can see what it is that I need to do to get published through them. but have a lot of friends that also self published. It’s pretty cool.
I’ve written a 5-part ‘contemporary’ romance series (the Rhapsody Series), a paranormal mystery (Lock Box), a short story collection (Storytella), a chic lit (Double Dare) and several other novels. Currently working on a memoir, in addition to a few other novels… the reason I’m taking a hiatus on reading.?
Just heard yesterday that my short story will be published in a sci-fi anthology due out in August. I will be able to say officially that I am a published author soon.
I follow publishers on twitter that help with that. but it’s all about the research. get an agent if you’re going traditional or looking into things about self publishing
I would personally write the first draft of the whole series. And then have a more polished version of the first one before looking for an agent. If you can say hey, here is the first book and I know there are x number of books in the rest of the series, it’ll be good.
Thanks @Belynda. There are ups and downs to co-authoring, and of course it depends who you are working with and their writing skills and previous experience. The up side is the book gets finished quicker. If they are a good writer and have a similar approach to writing as you, you get valuable suggestions and feedback, which helps your own creativity. The downside is you can have different concerns and priorities. They can be happy with the standard and type of comment you just wouldn’t submit. They can also work at a different pace to you. Given the choice, I would single author as the work has a clear single and consistent voice, which makes it easier for the reader. Things are also more under your own control. I am sure it is possible to get that perfect partnership and get all the benefits, but so far I prefer the books that are solely mine.
Interesting! I had to look that up. There are women in the story, as well as men, but they all interact with each other. There are romantic relationships involved between the characters, but it’s not the focus.
For sure. The test is typically to see if women are there merely as a prop. And horror is one of the worst about not passing it. I remember all the things about my horror movie class but the exact words, which makes it hard to understand how to ask specific questions lol
Good good!! The only horror movie that does that well so far really is The Descent. It’s the one that we studied in class. I love creature horror though. Is it going to have like some found history of the creature?
I’d have to shop it around. There are organizations that do readings in front of producers, too. I just haven’t taken that step. I’ve considered rewriting it from a different angle.
Like, are you just being nice to me or is it good. Because I’ve read some books that were self published that were terrible. But their friends told them they were awesome.
Yeah, I had a really good friend who worked in movies, and he was helping me with the script. But he passed away. I haven’t touched it since. I had another friend read it, and he was like, “OMG a MOM wrote that???” LOL! So, I guess that is a good review.
The right kind of mom can write anything. I’ve been watching and/or reading horror since I was three. I dream in horror often too. But that does sound like a great review.
I write. Written two novels so far. Came close to self-publishing but am ultimately holding out for traditional-publishing. Long or impossible as that may be. I’ll be sending off my second novel to agents soon, and am planning my third novel while I do 🙂
I will be soon. Yeah 🙂 See how that goes. I’m holding off at the momet because I have a two week holiday in a weeks time, and I don’t want to be glued to my emails while I’m chilling in the sun. Two weeks holiday = shit loads of reading time.
A textbook for teaching poetry for students, (nothing officially published yet), a few novels and I have had small poems published in magazines some years ago.
I’m mostly trying to get it done because I’ve been working on a certain series for almost a year now. I want to get it professionally published and I’m currrently doing rewrites right now. What kind of genres do you write?
I needed a break from editing the first one! Stephen King says once you’re done with a go through before editing take time away. He typically says to write something else during that time but you still come back with fresh eyes
Whatever I can do. Sadly I had to put it all on hold. My condition makes it hard to think and function because of how much pain I’m in. So I haven’t written anymore.
Well when I get things together I’ll have to look into that. Won’t be til October til I can start looking into fixing it. Have to wait til we move to a closer doc
Ya, people just assume that since it’s TMJ that just my jaw hurts. The pain spreads and causes killer headaches and at times makes it super hard to think. It’s not fun at all.
@Belynda It’s super fun I think if you like Cinder you will like it. Different premise but fast paced and snarky. And I’m writing the main love story (it’s a co-authored series with 2 points of view) in the first book and I’m pretty excited about it.
I have heard that her TOG is more for a young audience. I have Not read TOG. I do have the first 3 in ACOTAR but haven’t started yet. I have heard ACOTAR is more for adults thou. Maybe why you have those feeling as her growing as an author
I wasn’t talking so much about the content as the style. Like ones farther into the series of TOG have a feeling like she’s grown as well. Which is something a writer wants to do, is grow in their writing style with each book.
Well, so far I have written one comedy/pop culture/superhero story that is up on http://acidlogic.com/ and a few that count as psychological thriller or horror depending on your perspective. I have been reading a lot of HP Lovecraft lately which might explain that 🙂
I’ve written and published eight books so far including two collections of short stories. One is science fiction, one is a juvenile fantasy, and four are Young Adult fantasies.
Well, I’m 77 years old and I guess these books have been perking most of my life while I had to be working and not writing. But I’ve been retired now (aside from some freelance, temp and part-time jobs) for over 20 years, so that’s when these books were written.
I guess it would equate today to children’s fantasy — I wrote it and published it online something like 20 years ago, and genres were different then. It’s too young for Middle Grade so I guess it’s Children’s. But it’s a fun read about “Triggams,” which are odd-looking creatures from another dimension.
I write short fiction and novels. At the moment I’m finishing my degree in Creative and Professional Writing and the moment I’m done, I’m going to be editing my first novel instead of writing about writing haha FINALLY.
Everyone is subject to criticism. Don’t forget, JK Rowling’s Harry Potter series was refused by 11 editors before being accepted by Bloomsbury. I think they regret it now it’s that popular. Just because they are editors doesn’t mean they are the best. 😉
It’s not very far along, but it’s a romance novel where the 2 have a short but intense relationship and then she does something (still thinking what exactly) that makes him walk away. 10yrs later she seeks him out because she still hasn’t forgiven herself for what she did. I’m still thinking of a way to make it different from so many other books. The plot line is completely subpar and needs lots of work/development.
I did it for the first time last year and loved it! I’d spent so long writing random snippets of whatever came to mind with previous books, but in that month having a target made it so productive!
Yes! I have thinkpieces as well, on orientalism in memoirs of a geisha and the inequity of memorialization in a town in western Thailand. I like to think I’m a step above blogger
What’s a good blog site? Im interested in starting one.. I’ve been itching to write a story too. I’ve loved to write for as long as I can remember but I have a constant writer’s block. I remember one of my teachers always having to tell me to put my story away and write later lol
Tell yourself there is NO such thing as writer’s block. Tell yourself that’s an inner critic stopping you writing because you’re fearful the writing will be crap. Tell yourself it’s good to write crap. Lots of crap. I mean, really lots of crap. Because crap can be molded into non-crap and non-crap into decent writing. You can only mold nothing into nothing. No one releases the first draft. No one (I hope). That is just for you and no one else. That’s what you say to writer’s block.
Blogspot on G+ is good site with no costs. Do not hesitate, writing can be a very joyful craft if you love it. It keaps my spirit light and my soul at peace. I literally pine when I am unable to write. Don’t push yourself Let it flow. Even if you dont even understand the gibberish, keep writing and dooddling. Don’t stop. Keep writing odd litle things which come to you. Before long your heart will begin to tell you what to write as mine does. I just trassnslate the words my heart gives me. A very great joy.
I am in the process of writing the third part of my first book. It’s a murder mystery that takes place in Marrakech.
Writing first drafts are so hard.
Me!!????
what’s it about?
@Belynda It’s sort of Asian Mortal Instruments meets foul-mouthed shapeshifting Wushu warriors.????
@Siri that sounds pretty interesting. I do like the MI series and I like foul mouthed anything lol. What is a Wushu warrior though? They sounds pretty cool
Belynda Rios Wushu means martial arts like Kung Fu, Tai chi, etc—basically a word the means all variations of Chinese Martial Arts (that actually originated in India)
@Siri Oh ok. that makes sense!!
?? If you liked TMI, and you don’t hate strange character names–you’d probably enjoy it?
@Belynda This is book two–and the final book in the trilogy comes out on the 22nd???
@Siri OMG!!! That’s so exciting and the covers are so pretty!!
@Siri I love strange names!!
@Belynda Aw, thanks! We worked pretty hard on them?
You should really check it out <3
I will for sure!!
I do short stories. Nothing published.
Yeah nothing published on my end either
I’m with you both there ?
Reading made me want to become a writer… I am an aspiring one at the moment. What with juggling four kids under 8 nd a full time job of mowing lawns, I still try to squeeze in some writing time. 😛
I know that pain. I try to squeeze writing time in where I can here and there….but it’s not happening. I do November NaNoWriMo though.
Those are definitely something I wanted to do, but by the time I found out about it is was a couple months later. At the moment I’m on Wattpad trying to do stories, they are just drafts at the moment (too scared to publish) and I have a bad habit of starting a new novel all the time.
Plus I love to handwrite a lot so I lo he a lot of exercise books full of stories that I attempted to write when I was a teen (12 years ago) right up until I got my first smartphone.
that’s pretty cool. I have a dream journal that I write those down for ideas.
None published but I have written few!
I know the feels. have all the writings but nothing published yet.
@Siri is a huge inspiration to publish your stuff if you ever need it!!
I need more the motivation to edit lol
@Belynda You can do it!! Believe me, if I can do it—ANYONE can!!???
Lol yeah I don’t have any of that motivation haha sorry
@Belynda That’s what an editor is for!
well yeah, but I’d like to get through three drafts before I send it to an editor. right now….I’m still in draft 2
@Belynda You’ll have another couple after beta readers–then again after the editor??
@Siri Oh man. I just need to make myself get through them.
I have written, but not published as well
I’m in the same boat. like novels, short stoires? genre?
Short stories
Thriller
Process of writing (I technically wrote one for a senior project but since time was limited it’s not very good) about 10 books.
I’ve got a ton of books that I’m working on here and there.
It’s hard when random characters demand that I write their stories. (Meaning random ideas pop up and I must start writing about them.
Yeah characters are fickle like that
I’m currently writing my first. It is set in Greece, during the WW2, when a young girl is confronted with the horrors of war. It is in honor of many Greek women who fought with the Resistance against the Nazis.
This sounds awesome!??
Thank you!
That’s a pretty cool concept. I would really love more books about women at war. Considering a lot of them focus on the men’s point of view.
Absolutely! The women played such a big role and their support was invaluable.
And it allows more people to be interested!
I hv written , but not published yet .
The tittle is : the essence of the individual .
A mystical , philosophical , and crypted book about the myth of government , politics , diversities …etc .
Sounds interesting
Unpublished but i have written 1!
Could you share with us the maw of your work Admin ?
curiosity kills the cat .
Are you asking what it’s about?
maw = synopsis .
Yes , if you don’t mind Amber .
Sorry never heard that term before! Learned something new!
Very good , you wanna maintain the problems of failure , destiny , hydras …etc , with an optimistic view .
about the word MAW you can check it and see its meaning urself , may be am messed up
That’s pretty cool. what’s it about??
so, my computer didn’t load those comments before….that sounds pretty awesome!! Like, I think it’s important to show stories like that.
Thanks! I’ve been having issues with comments not showing up too!@
I want my book to help other girls that are being bullied just like i was in school and hope they won’t feel alone anymore.
I’d like to. I love historical fiction and would love to write historical fiction for children and young adults but the process of getting published seems so difficult. Might start just writing for fun and see where it leads.
You can always start by self-publishing! ?
That’s always a great idea!! And I follow a lot of publishers on like twitter so I can see what it is that I need to do to get published through them. but have a lot of friends that also self published. It’s pretty cool.
And I think that more historical fiction for kids and ya would be cool.
I lost the will to write 🙁
how??
@Belynda no desire to.
makes sense. well if it’s something you love I hope it comes back. and if not I hope you find something you love to do ^.^
I might attempt to write a book ? wish me luck ?
Good luck ?
always good luck. I think that everyone has a story in them
I’ve written a 5-part ‘contemporary’ romance series (the Rhapsody Series), a paranormal mystery (Lock Box), a short story collection (Storytella), a chic lit (Double Dare) and several other novels. Currently working on a memoir, in addition to a few other novels… the reason I’m taking a hiatus on reading.?
Oh that is so cool!! Are you traditionally or self published?
Both…or rather all. Traditional, self and Independent… mostly independent. ?
Ah that’s pretty cool!!
Just heard yesterday that my short story will be published in a sci-fi anthology due out in August. I will be able to say officially that I am a published author soon.
Oh I love anthologies!!!
@Belynda Mine are both on Amazon! AND all true stories!
@Belynda It’s called The Collapsar Directive…keep an eye out for it. ?
I will
Me I love to write so much problem is don’t know how to get published
I follow publishers on twitter that help with that. but it’s all about the research. get an agent if you’re going traditional or looking into things about self publishing
Thank you I will so should I write the whole series before I try to get published
I would personally write the first draft of the whole series. And then have a more polished version of the first one before looking for an agent. If you can say hey, here is the first book and I know there are x number of books in the rest of the series, it’ll be good.
K thank you so much your awesome
Not a problem!!
I wrote a booklet thats on Amazon (dont know it that counts), about survivng our healthcare system lol. Im going to need to read it again soon.
Oh that sounds pretty interesting!! Though idk if you really can survive it jk
@Belynda lol are you? Believeme, some days I wonder if Im really a zombie just pretending life!
It’s like a morbid joke lol. I’m not sure it’s working
Hey, if it keeps us sane, it’s ok 🙂
Yes, I have published several text book, both solo authored, co-authored, and co-edited. Not likely to be made into films, but widely read and hopefully had an impact on the reader and the quality of their work. https://www.amazon.co.uk/d/Books/Rapid-Research-Methods-Nurses-Midwives-Health-Professionals/1119048419/ref=sr_1_9?ie=UTF8&qid=1496525005&sr=8-9&keywords=colin+rees
that’s pretty cool!! how was it to co author?
Me. I have two on Amazon
what are they about?
Interesting. What genre are they?
I enjoy writing. Haven’t had the courage or confidence to submit as yet.
I know the feeling!! I have submitted one short story to a contest and like half a second after hitting the submit button I paniced.
I’ve written a screenplay. 🙂
Oh that’s interesting! I’ve never even tried a hand at those because they’re so different from what I write!! What is it about?
It’s a horror movie. Unique monster – the skunk ape, which is like a bigfoot that lives in the Florida everglades. 🙂
@Amelia Oh I do love horror movies!! Does it pass the Bechdal (that’s not spelled right) test?
Interesting! I had to look that up. There are women in the story, as well as men, but they all interact with each other. There are romantic relationships involved between the characters, but it’s not the focus.
For sure. The test is typically to see if women are there merely as a prop. And horror is one of the worst about not passing it. I remember all the things about my horror movie class but the exact words, which makes it hard to understand how to ask specific questions lol
They are equal to the men. 🙂
Good good!! The only horror movie that does that well so far really is The Descent. It’s the one that we studied in class. I love creature horror though. Is it going to have like some found history of the creature?
Basically, there’s a man who has been studying them. But the antagonists want to hunt them. Chaos ensues.
Makes sense.
It’s registered with the LoC and copywritten, so I don’t mind sharing it. 🙂
Loc?
Library of Congress. 🙂
Ah makes more sense now lol
Are you excited for it? How does it get made into a movie? Idk much about that process
I’d have to shop it around. There are organizations that do readings in front of producers, too. I just haven’t taken that step. I’ve considered rewriting it from a different angle.
So it’s like the agent or no agent querying phase?
Right. 🙂
That phase scares the crap outta me
No joke! I’ve been sitting on it for years debating whether to shop it out as is or rewrite it.
Or like, move on to something else because maybe it’s not as awesome as you think. Because that’s me….95% of the time lol
Right??? And I’ve had friends read it, but I can never tell if they actually like it or if they are just saying they do.
Like, are you just being nice to me or is it good. Because I’ve read some books that were self published that were terrible. But their friends told them they were awesome.
Yes!!!
So, I don’t let friends beta. I have one friend that I’m sure will be a lot nicer.
I went for creepy. 🙂
If you want to read it, send me your email address. 🙂
Sent 🙂
Do you own an agency? Cool gig. 🙂
I do not. This use to be my email for modeling. now it’s my generic one. since I don’t really do much of that anymore.
Nah. I think that it is mine. I have one.
I just forget about it sometimes lol
Yeah, I understand that if you’re not doing it anymore.
Yeah I just do random personal projects. So it’s like once a year now….something like that.
I write. Written two novels so far. Came close to self-publishing but am ultimately holding out for traditional-publishing. Long or impossible as that may be. I’ll be sending off my second novel to agents soon, and am planning my third novel while I do 🙂
Oh that’s super cool. so you’re querying?
I will be soon. Yeah 🙂 See how that goes. I’m holding off at the momet because I have a two week holiday in a weeks time, and I don’t want to be glued to my emails while I’m chilling in the sun. Two weeks holiday = shit loads of reading time.
Sounds good!
I do, if you want a link to my blog I’ll send it to you.
what kind of blog?
@Belynda it’s about my writing experiences and some of my writing pieces. as well as advice for new writers.
That’s pretty cool! I wanna start a writing vlog
its really fun. bloggers are super supportive too.
https://trwoodwardwriter.wordpress.com/2017/06/01/about-gypsy-hearts
sweet!!
And I’ll check it out
Followed ?
I am a published author of nine books and numerous magazine articles.
that’s pretty cool. what kinds of books.
@Belynda Nonfiction, mainly about British castles and heritage sites, and also one on genealogy.
That sounds interesting
Wow ?
Very interesting! Do you have an author page or link to your books?
Yes, it’s http://www.lisehull.com/ Thanks for asking!
A textbook for teaching poetry for students, (nothing officially published yet), a few novels and I have had small poems published in magazines some years ago.
oh that’s really cool!!!
Plenty, but nothing published. I actually write more than I read, which is kinda ironic.
I write probably just as much!
I’m mostly trying to get it done because I’ve been working on a certain series for almost a year now. I want to get it professionally published and I’m currrently doing rewrites right now. What kind of genres do you write?
i write more than read too.
YA fantasy. You?
Ooo same. Magic, dragons, futuristic stuff. What’s a short summary of the beginning of yours? 🙂
paranormal, crime.
The one most done is about warring religions. And the chosen one from each get kidnapped by a third religion that wants to start a new world order!
Ooo sounds nice!
It’s hard to explain lol
Yeah don’t feel bad. Mine is too lmao
I have another in which there is a girl that lives two lives. Ine during the day and one during her dreams!
Oh wow, that one sounds like something I’d read. How do you write two different books at once? I have to focus on one at a time tbh lmao
I needed a break from editing the first one! Stephen King says once you’re done with a go through before editing take time away. He typically says to write something else during that time but you still come back with fresh eyes
Can’t disagree with him
That’s what i thought! I liked that book
The one about the dreams has three books to it so far. and they’re each told from a new perspective.
And true loves kiss…..
Ooo how fancy 😉
I wouldnt mind proofreading it if you ever want to send the chapters. For grammatical errors or weird wording and stuff 🙂
Of course. when I get to that point
Me. Not published yet.
Me neither!
What do you write?
Trying to get a novel started. You?
YA fantasy
I do. I write about demons
fiction????
Yup. It’s a 7 book series called the Kron Legacy. Sadly not published.
Are you looking to publish?
I’d love to very much yes
Are you querying? Or thinking self publish?
Whatever I can do. Sadly I had to put it all on hold. My condition makes it hard to think and function because of how much pain I’m in. So I haven’t written anymore.
Understandable
One day I hope to be able to pick it back up once my jaw is fixed.
You can always e-publish through Amazon, it’s a start but if definitely be interested in reading this
Well when I get things together I’ll have to look into that. Won’t be til October til I can start looking into fixing it. Have to wait til we move to a closer doc
Didn’t realize you were the one sending the request @Kristina, sent it again.
It’s ok ?
Pain does that alot. I just saw a name with no friends of and hit delete. Brain didn’t even register it. Sorry hun.
I’m sorry, being in constant pain is one of the worst things, it seriously gets in the way of everything!
Ya, people just assume that since it’s TMJ that just my jaw hurts. The pain spreads and causes killer headaches and at times makes it super hard to think. It’s not fun at all.
Not exactly books, but I do write
What do you write?
Mostly fanfiction, but I’m currently working on a original short story and a “book”
What fanfic? And what is the story about?
Sherlock fanfiction right now, lol. I’m a big fan. And the story is about a princess who is unable to walk. It’s for a friend who has Cerebral Palsy
That’s pretty cool!
Thanks 🙂
What do you write?
I’m writing my first book of which I hope to make into a series.
Cool! What’s it about?
Yep! Its a murder mystery. It takes place in a public setting
That’s pretty cool!
Thanks!
Fiction. SciFi, crime fiction, fantasy and a bit of autobiographical thing. ?
What about you @Belynda ? Do you also write?
I do! Mostly YA or NA fantasy.
Just released my first, took me three years to write it 🙂 I am halfway through the second though, phew!
What’s it about?
@Belynda https://www.amazon.co.uk/Dead-Girls-Dont-Cry-Welch-ebook/dp/B0719WP4DN/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1496531114&sr=8-1&keywords=dead+girls+don%27t+cry
I just finished formatting the physical copy for createspace – took ages as I am not great at IT, should be releasing that tomorrow
That’s exciting
Ooo it sounds good might have to get it on my kindle ❤
Oohh!!! The title has me intrigued!
Also, the cover is gorgeous!
@Michelle Thanks so much, just got the paperback version up also and am very happy with how it turned out ?
@Kristina thanks, would love to know your thoughts 🙂
Whenever anyone says YA I am so sure they ought to be fan of Throne of Glass series. ? Are you one?
I do. I’m actually a writing coach. If anyone needs help, feel free to PM me.
Can you help with working around Chronic Bilateral TMJ pain?
What does a writing coach do?
@Belynda A writing coach helps you take your idea and go from concept to finished manuscript and published book. Let me know if this interests you.
I take that as a no then. Okay thank you
@Devlin I’m still a little confused. Do you help with editing, and querying and things like that?
By the way…I’m not a very big fan of TOG
Its interesting. I like ACOTAR first.
I’ve got 3 book I’m working on and soooo many ideas for more, I seriously need to finish some and get them e-published ?
Totally!! I’ve got a lot of books right now that are being worked on
I feel like life just gets in my way from writing lol
Yeah!! Life totally….gets in the way
Oh wow…that’s also by Sarah J. Maas. I’ll give it a try too…though I didn’t like TOG. Assassins blade was a total disappointment for me. ?
Have you tried The Dark Tower series by Stephen King?
Me! Just one and it’s a self help book…but it kinda counts!
Any books counts!!
I’m obsessed with self-help books! ?
Only in my head…but good luck to all you authors… aspiring and accomplished !
Yep
You have a pop?!?!
@Jenetta that’s super exciting!!!
@Belynda Thanks… it was pretty fun
This is the upcoming series.
what’s it about?
Xmen meets fairy tale. The little mermaid and peter pan.
Oh that sounds interesting.
@Belynda It’s super fun I think if you like Cinder you will like it. Different premise but fast paced and snarky. And I’m writing the main love story (it’s a co-authored series with 2 points of view) in the first book and I’m pretty excited about it.
Oh that’s really cool. I’ll look into it!!
@Belynda It will be out later this year 🙂
Do you have an author page I can follow?
I have not. And that is also by SJM. I like the series better because the writing seems a little more mature. Like she’s grown as an author.
Does worrying fanfiction count lol?
I think that it does. Writing on any level. Marissa Meyers would count her book Heartless as a fanfiction.
Lol my stupid phone ugh, I hate autocorrect. I didn’t know she considered heartless fanfiction. Interesting.
Yeah. She considers Cinder to be fairytale fanfiction as well. At least she’s quoted as having said that. I mean, fanfiction is great!!!
I love it! I haven’t wrote anything in awhile, but it’s my favorite pastime
I’ve still yet to read that series
It’s pretty great!! I liked it anyway
When I go to the library I’ll see if they have it
I do. Been published with a few short stories. Working on my first novel ^^
That’s so exciting. What do you write?
I write a series of historical mysteries?
Ooh! Interesting! Do you have an author page or website for your books?
@Michelle Yes, the website is http://maliazaidi.com/ if you want to check out the books?
do you have a time period you do more?
@Belynda They are set in the 1920s. I’m really interested in the time between the wars in Europe.
I love the covers!
@Michelle Thanks so much!
I write short stories. A book could happen someday!
what genre?
Well, so far I have written one comedy/pop culture/superhero story that is up on http://acidlogic.com/ and a few that count as psychological thriller or horror depending on your perspective. I have been reading a lot of HP Lovecraft lately which might explain that 🙂
Liked 🙂
I’ve written and published eight books so far including two collections of short stories. One is science fiction, one is a juvenile fantasy, and four are Young Adult fantasies.
Wow – productive!
Well, I’m 77 years old and I guess these books have been perking most of my life while I had to be working and not writing. But I’ve been retired now (aside from some freelance, temp and part-time jobs) for over 20 years, so that’s when these books were written.
Do you have an author page or website for your books?
Yes, I do. “http://darlingbooks.com/” And there is also my Author page on Amazon. Thanks for asking.
Subscribed ❤️
What is juvenile fantasy? Never heard of that classification.
I wanna take creative writing classes.
You should do it!
Here. Wrote 9, published 1
That’s exciting!! Are you shopping the other 8?
I want to but my stuff is very far out and not many publishers would like it
Coral Boucher Taylor Author I have written 16 books. started writing 2013 at 69 My love of books all my life has led me to this. A great blessing

That’s super exciting!! I wish I could have so many even needing edits lol
here :))
yay!!
But I write in Hungarian so most of you won’t understand 😀
I used to write poetries at the age of 15
But i lost the interest in them
And now i’m writing my first book
what’s it about
You mean the book ?
????
I write book reviews 😛 does that qualify 🙂
Book reviews are an author’s best friend! ❤️
Book reviews count to me (and everyone that’s ever written a book lol)
I write one for every book I read
I write but whenever i think of a different plot, I change.
Omg, i wanna read this
I’m trying to write something right now
What are you trying to write.
a thriller
I’m writing my first book, but a bit scared to be criticized.
Even great writers such as n.sparks and s.king got criticised by fools so don’t be, just ignore them for you are better than them.
You just have to find the person for your book!!
Everyone is subject to criticism. Don’t forget, JK Rowling’s Harry Potter series was refused by 11 editors before being accepted by Bloomsbury. I think they regret it now it’s that popular. Just because they are editors doesn’t mean they are the best. 😉
me!! I’m writing fiction books
what about? what genre?
romance and teen fiction
Working on one now
what about?
It’s not very far along, but it’s a romance novel where the 2 have a short but intense relationship and then she does something (still thinking what exactly) that makes him walk away. 10yrs later she seeks him out because she still hasn’t forgiven herself for what she did. I’m still thinking of a way to make it different from so many other books. The plot line is completely subpar and needs lots of work/development.
I’m currently writing my second draft of my Nation novel writing month project from last year, and plotting for something else I’m about to release!
I participate in NaNoWriMo too!
I did it for the first time last year and loved it! I’d spent so long writing random snippets of whatever came to mind with previous books, but in that month having a target made it so productive!
Oh you do NaNo too??
Team Nano!!! <3
Followed ❤️
Followed back! ❤️
Thanks for the like @Tabitha!
@Angela the books are available on Amazon and Kindle Unlimited. I hope you enjoy! ?? Be sure to let me know what you think when you finish reading!
42
42 published books?
Yes!
Do you think that SJM only writes for females readers. I’ve hardly seen any male fan if SJM.
Even the protagonist of all of her books are girls struggling with their choices and circumstances
I do! Haven’t published yet
me either!!
I finished one and I’m writing it to be published. :3
I write poetry and short stories… Not published anything yet.
me neither
🙂
I do, and write stories, published 2 so far, have many more to go.
That’s exciting!!
I wrote two short stories. One is published already. Waiting for the other one to come back. And I’m working on my first novel
What’s the novel about?
The way it’s going I don’t know.
It’s erotica/romance I guess you can call it. But it’s all over the place since it’s my first novel.
I do a lot of creative writing
I know plenty of male readers that enjoy her books.
So you write kind of like a blog?
That sounds fun!!
that’s actually my fave kind of romance lol
Ah…I see. Ok I’ll try to read it sometime soon ?
Yes! I have thinkpieces as well, on orientalism in memoirs of a geisha and the inequity of memorialization in a town in western Thailand. I like to think I’m a step above blogger
Yes @Michelle its my kind of romance as well like @Belynda
What’s a good blog site? Im interested in starting one.. I’ve been itching to write a story too. I’ve loved to write for as long as I can remember but I have a constant writer’s block. I remember one of my teachers always having to tell me to put my story away and write later lol
WordPress is very popular and user friendly.
I really like that @Laurence! That honestly makes me see it a little differently now ??
@Michelle No problem 🙂
@Michelle Thank you 🙂
Blogspot on G+ is good site with no costs.
Right here
I love to write and one of my dreams isto publish the book I’m writting at the moment. Is anyone else on Nanowrimo?
I did it last November! Painful at times but loved doing it, and I’m currently writing the second draft. How is yours going?
Fine I got to my goal of 7000 words in March (or April can’t remember) and I am going to continue part two in July
It’s about a police officer working on some rape cases in Northern London. 🙂
Oh that sounds interesting! Is it quite dark or more of a mystery?
Yep and gearing up for July camp
I’m on NaNo!! I really wanna do the July camp. But mine will be hours into it rather than words. Since I”ll be editing
I might do it in July too actually- I was planning a new project anyway for once my exams are over. What kind of word/ hour count do you guys aim for?
@Amy if I’m doing word count its 25k or 30k. And for hours I’m doing 1 hr to 1.5 hrs a day.
I am writing one now. Trying to figure out how to spice it up. Here is my prologue for my story…https://www.wattpad.com/285287922-the-vampire-the-blamers-1-prologue.
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Diary-Cambridge-Loafer-Lavanya-Malhotra/dp/1523832916 Diary of a Cambridge Loafer is a light hearted romance novel about a fresher at the University of Cambridge 🙂 It’s free on Kindle Unlimited
