Even now at 42 years old I’ve still been called those. Needless to say I am proud of my book loving self now. Unfortunately when I was younger I let people make me feel “other” because of my reading.
Yep, it’s never bothered me though for some reason I never took it as an insult. Last time was from my brother in law while he played computer games ???
I think I confused people. I was a cheerleader who wandered around with my nose in a book. Apparently I missed the memo that you couldn’t have varied interests. ?
I always get called a nerd but thats for fandoms and stuff mostly people who don’t read think I’m weird… Although my friend who reads thinks it’s insane how many books I can read… I find it all so amusing ?
ironic really Now I get called once in a while to model with expensive animals in expensive costumes And the kids who teased me are now fat, broke, and still don’t bother to read for pleasure. Go readers! 😀
Me!! I still am called a bookworm. I was also called a nerd but I always paid attention at school and did all of work/homework but I didn’t feel like I was. I’m definitely a bookworm though. I love reading
I shocked people when my scholastic book order came in, I had over 12 books while everyone else got maybe two or three. I was the only one with a huge order.
::raises hand:: The sad part they called me a nerd to make me feel bad. I would just say thank you and hand them a scrap of paper I wrote the title of a book on. A few times they would come back and say “that was a good book. Do you have another?” Hehe…Nerds! XD
I have been but I see it as a compliment. I always look at the intention behind a label and who is handing it out. If someone is putting me down for doing something I love I think they’re pretty pathetic and probably jealous I have something that makes me happy.
When I finished primary school, we had a little awards ceremony where all the kids got a special award. Mine was for “Attempting to read every book in the library. Twice.” ??? I was quite proud of that ? I’ve never been bothered by getting called a bookworm or nerd ?
I’m used to be called nerd, cause of my glasses and that i loved to learn new things, also at school i was the nerd-with-the-book …now when I’m older i made many of my relatives start reading by giving them my favourite novels… And suggest other books for them..
Me .. I’m famous for that. ? cause I was the one mostly sitting outside of the class with a book while other friends of mind were busying Gossiping. ? and they hating me for not joining them. ?
I remember in summer school I would finish early so I would read The Canterbury Tales. I was 15. The teacher asked me if I was finishing the assignments early and was reading an advance book, why I was there. I replied, “I was never in class because it was boring to sit there for 1.5 hours when I already understood the concepts”
I don’t remember this, but my mom tells me that when I was starting to read, she would have me read at family gatherings. “I was showing you off,” she said. “Mmm,” I said. “Did you ever think that’s one reason why certain people, like [family member] and [other family member] didn’t like me?” In my extended family, it’s okay to brag on your kid for being good at sports, but academics? You’re a total snob.
I remember getting in trouble with my mother for reading while washing dishes by hand and for reading in the bathtub. My dad supplied the flashlight and kept me supplied with batteries for reading under the covers which my Mom never discovered – thank you hardwood stairs and bedroom floors with distinctive squeaks.
yep , as a kid I use to put my book in my basket attached to my handles bars so I could read while I rode my bike to school , the store or friends houses . I stopped doing that the day a car that I rode pass was parked too far from the curb, so the rear view mirror was into the street farther than all the other cars parked at the curb and I didn’t notice it till my elbow hit it, shattering the mirror and flipping me off my bike . Told my mom I fell off my bike and my arm landed on some glass in the street to explain the cuts to my arm , Kind of accident only another bookworm would understand LOL.
Yep and its still happening now
Just be proud of it.
Nerd, dork, teachers pet, four eyes…….I’ve heard it all.
Be proud too , ain’t you ?
Yep. Being normal is boring.
Guilty as charged! 🙂
??
I am a book DRAGON.
Hahaha
I forgot geek…..I’m proud to be a nerd, geek, dork… Who wants to be normal?? That’s boring….
Yeah ! Normal people are boring.
Yes, all my life.
I get it all the time and I say hell yeah I am! I’ll take being a nerd any day!!!!
Hahahha !
Wasn’t called a nerd, but was called a book worm a lot.
Great
but I did not find it an insult, I am like yeah, so?
??
Hi there
Hello

Nothing wrong with being a nerd or book worm it mean you think and are deep. Better than being the cool empty vessel ?
True Amanda
All the time. Its one of my brothers nickmanes for me
Wow
Even now at 42 years old I’ve still been called those. Needless to say I am proud of my book loving self now. Unfortunately when I was younger I let people make me feel “other” because of my reading.
Haha ! Nice
See I get the opposite, people are shocked I read, “Oh YOU read!” I was still a teachers pet though, I just played a lot of sports.
????
I still call @Marissa a nerd.
Every. Single. Day.
??
Totally
Nice.
Nerd, geek, book worm. I’m trying to get them to call me book dragon lol
Yep, but I don’t mind! I’m a nerdy bookworm and proud of it! ?
Hehe !
✋?✋?✋?✋?
Hey fellow nerd
Yes, im a bookworm and love it
Fantastic
Yes but who cares what people think
I would rather have my nose in a book than in someone’s business
Haha !
I proudly call myself a bookworm
Kudos mam
Here! Nerd and bookworm proud!!??
I, too, am proud to be called a bookworm, but don’t know if I fit the bill of a nerd. :):):)
I see.?
Yep, it’s never bothered me though for some reason I never took it as an insult. Last time was from my brother in law while he played computer games ???
??????
I think I confused people. I was a cheerleader who wandered around with my nose in a book. Apparently I missed the memo that you couldn’t have varied interests. ?
How very dare you!
Haha
That’s right.I was quite the rebel
Never for reading books.
However for being a gamer – lots of words ?
Lucky you.
Yep and still get called that
Haha..! How do u take it
@Likesh lol I don’t know how to respond to that tbh
Still am!
Wah !
All my life
Be proud
Of course
??
I own it!

Hi there fellow nerd
Oh yes. I still wear those tags as badges of honor.
Superb !
✋?✋?
Fellow nerd ! Hi there
I always get called a nerd but thats for fandoms and stuff mostly people who don’t read think I’m weird… Although my friend who reads thinks it’s insane how many books I can read… I find it all so amusing ?
Hahah !
Yes, and proud of it!
Same here.
Yup and proud of it.
Hehe ! Kudos !
Me!
Welcome to the league
I’ve been part of the league since the 90s. 😀
*isn’t totally listening to Voltron panels while working on my book blog*
Haha….that’s rather great
every time i was called book nerd cause of my glasses…
The insignia of being a nerd.?
exactly
Actually… nope :\ got teased more for wearing hand-me-downs than I did for reading anything
Oops…that’s rather sad.
ironic really
Now I get called once in a while to model with expensive animals in expensive costumes
And the kids who teased me are now fat, broke, and still don’t bother to read for pleasure.
Go readers! 😀
@Amanda that’s the spirit !
Outside of school.. I’m often asked “How do you know so much??”
Me too.
I usually just say, “Well, I read a lot.”
All the time. There are worse things to be called
??
Me, but I embrace my nerdiness ?
Not me. Not that I would’ve minded.
All the time at work. But, I take it with love, not insult.
I call my self a book worm and geek all the time and I do so proudly
Still am called a nerd or book worm for reading its not offensive to me at all. I am proud to be either 🙂
Still am and proud of it!
Were? Still am
Lol me! I think it’s funny though so no worries
Still get called that and I’m very proud of that moniker!!!
??
I was called a bookworm. My grades were always too terrible to qualify me for nerd status though!?
All my life..
I am a proud book worm. X
Yep. And proud. My dad always said “Nerds run the world” 🙂
Yup
Bookworm n nerd though my grades in secondary school & college weren’t too good.
?? I’ve been called both and wear them as badges of honor! Haha.
Damn right
And I’m a proud book worm!
Me!! I still am called a bookworm. I was also called a nerd but I always paid attention at school and did all of work/homework but I didn’t feel like I was. I’m definitely a bookworm though. I love reading
Me, I even got a welcome title of “book worm ” in University ?
It’s a title I proudly wear!!!
Bookworm — all through grade school & high school. It didn’t help that I was also a ‘student librarian’ (some places call them library helpers).
I shocked people when my scholastic book order came in, I had over 12 books while everyone else got maybe two or three. I was the only one with a huge order.
I’m still called that.
I’m called by both by my sister.
Me too – but she is just as big a nerd as me. So it is more a joke between us than insult.
Constantly. I always said “thank you, that’s such a lovely compliment “. Used to throw people pretty badly 🙂
I proudly call myself geek, bookworm and other similar names.
I call myself a nerd and a bookworm, those words aren’t an insult to me, I am proud to be both! ?❤
Definitely yes
::raises hand:: The sad part they called me a nerd to make me feel bad. I would just say thank you and hand them a scrap of paper I wrote the title of a book on. A few times they would come back and say “that was a good book. Do you have another?” Hehe…Nerds! XD
I was called bookworm by my mum’s friends but it got me my sign language name. (Worm). I’m actually quite proud of it ?
I was and I was also called teacher’s pet but that wasn’t true I just finish stuff faster so I could read more
All the time and still today I’m called names for my love of reading
they always made it sound like a BAD thing
I am still called these things. My reply is Well at least I won’t ever be dumb….
Still am! Don’t care either lol
I’ve never been called anything like this in a bad context. It’s usually with friendly jealousy, or amazement . Even when younger.
Twice.”
???
I was quite proud of that ?
I’ve never been bothered by getting called a bookworm or nerd ?
Yep, my badge of honour
Never. Did not start enjoying a true love of reading until college.
still am
Me too
Mostly people just wish they could read as much as me.
I have been a proud book worm my whole life; I believe elementary school, 4th, 5th, or 6th grade, it became my sobriquet.
All the time. I love it!
classmates, friends, and family.
Yes my family mostly
Me, me– that would be me !!!!
Me. Father in law used to mock me always.
Still am
Absolutely! Book worm by family an dfriends, nerd by childhood enemies. I take pride in both of those names
I dont mind being called a bookworm or a nerd
I was in school before the word nerd was coined; however, I remember being called Professor Sideburns.
Here! But it’s a complement. ?
Always
I’m used to be called nerd, cause of my glasses and that i loved to learn new things, also at school i was the nerd-with-the-book …now when I’m older i made many of my relatives start reading by giving them my favourite novels… And suggest other books for them..
Me. By my parents. I think they meant it in a good way. ^_^
All the time
And proud of it!!
Me .. I’m famous for that. ?
cause I was the one mostly sitting outside of the class with a book while other friends of mind were busying Gossiping. ? and they hating me for not joining them. ?
✋But didn’t care then and don’t care now. I was the one who sat on the school bus with a walk man and a book
My teachers use to Chime in at how much I read. Lol
Bad thing to lay on a kid.
Always, but proud to bear the titles, even with the “harassment” from fellow students that accompanied them. (HS graduation 1972)

I am.
Me
guilty as charged !!!!
All the time and I love it!
