But if the movie was at least decent, yeah. I had LoTR with a movie cover. Looked nice. (Keyword is had. They were “borrowed” 6 years ago and never returned)
Hate them – always try and buy the original dust jaket. My only exceptions are The Help (someone lost my original copy) and Atonement as I bought them second hand.
Part of what I love about collecting books is the artistry that goes into the covers, I feel when they use the movie or TV show cover it takes away from the overall artistry.
It kinda limits your imagination , for example the author can say he has black hair all she wants but if I want to imagine him blonde I will cause what can make me not to but when there is a boy in the cover then automatically I think of the character as the one in the cover
i don’t mind them at all, I prefer the regular book cover. but if someone gifted me a book with the movie tie in covers i gladly take it. ?? not gonna be picky
Usually, . . . it is the re-issue of the book that has the movie tie in cover. So, . . . I have either already read it, . . . or wasn’t interested in it in the first place. ?
Personally, I really like them, but then I love movies too so kinda feel like they tie the two things together nicely.
Very cool! Which are your favorite movie tie in covers??
LOTR, The Hobbit, and Stardust are my faves I think, at least off the top of my head. They just look so cool, and fit the books so well.
That’s awesome!
Only if they didn’t ruin the movie.
Percy Jackson, for instance, was horrible. My wife and I refused to replace our series until they redid the covers without that atrocity on them.

Don’t like them personally.
I don’t like them for my personal collection but they are good in they may get non readers started who liked the movie
I avoid them.
I hate then and avoid when possible
Mostly avoid them but some have decent covers, rarely though ?
Nope nope nope ?
I don’t care. Don’t see how it having a movie cover changes the story.
I heard that some do though like the maze runner movie tie in cover ver had screenshots from the movie randomly placed in them.
Though that’s just something I heard I do not plan to actually buy it to see.
Don’t like them
I hate them.
Indifferent.
It’s whatever, I shop by price mainly. I managed to get a new copy of IT for $3.99. Didn’t bother me one bit that it has the movie cover.
Hate them. I try to avoid them as much as possible.
Boo. ?
Hate them – always try and buy the original dust jaket. My only exceptions are The Help (someone lost my original copy) and Atonement as I bought them second hand.
Charlie! ❤️
It doesn’t matter much if it doesn’t show the characters faces. I hate having an image made up for me.
I’m watching the office episodes with Will Ferrell right now! ?
If it’s all I can find.. not my first choice though
I avoid them
The words inside it are all still the same so… it’s a book. ?♀️
Some like a great cover to admire as well as a great story ??♀️ it’s preference..
Nope, the movie is just an adaptation of the book, not the final say on what the characters look like. Imagination beats Hollywood.
Not a fan
Hard pass
No
So-so
It depends on the movie. I love some posters, but dislike others.
I actually hate books with real people on the cover, movie stars or otherwise…
Exactly
Dislike!
No thanks. I don’t want to see what another person envisioned until I’ve created my own world.
Dislike ??♀️
??
no. no no no no no. just no.
Part of what I love about collecting books is the artistry that goes into the covers, I feel when they use the movie or TV show cover it takes away from the overall artistry.
I prefer original covers.
Not a fan.
I really wish they wouldn’t do that. I’m not sure why it bothers me but it does.
Nope
Hate it
????
HATE IT!!

I don’t like them…. !
@Jennifer ?
Hate them, usually the film adaption is vastly different to the book anyway.
Oh, just one emoji… ?
Some are okay but most if not all are paperback.
Dont like
It’s ok. What’s wrong with that?
No thank you
Naaah
I don’t care if it’s for a stand-alone, but definitely a no for series
They’re not for me.
This ole nugget again?
Yup. At least it’s not QUITE as tedious as “real vs eBook”. ???
@Angelina I honestly can’t be bothered to explain once again WHY they do movie covers or even update their covers in the first place!
@Kiera some people think they’re the first person to have these thoughts I guess ?♀️
I like original covers
Big old nope
I like them. When i met EL James i had my Movie Tie in ones signed rather than the normal ones
Not good
I don’t buy them
Hate it
Don’t like
I’m not a fan.
Nope
I’m not fussed coz it’s the story that matters
No thanks!
I love them
I’m put off the book when it has a movie cover. Dreadfully superficial of me
Do not like
No thanks
I dont like it.
No thanks!
I dislike movie covers. Find that it just is cheesy
Noooooo . Movie covers suck.
Nope
i don’t mind them at all, I prefer the regular book cover. but if someone gifted me a book with the movie tie in covers i gladly take it. ?? not gonna be picky
Yucky
Big NO!
It depends, if the actors in the movie looks like the characters describe in the book then yes. . If not, then no.
It doesn’t bother me. The words within the book is way more important than the cover.
Not a fan
I like some, but i prefer the original..
most movie covers I see are annoying
Nope
I don’t like them, if I get one as a bargain at a charity shop or at the library, ok.
I understand why they do it, but it irks me, I’d rather have the original cover.
