Jennifer Weiner has a new series, The Littlest Big Foot. Grades 3-7, more for girls I would think. I haven’t actually read them yet, but I love her adult books.
For boys all Jason Reynolds and Kwame Alexander books are a must. Both are multiple award winning writers who write especially for boys who are picky readers. Girls love their books too.
@Deborah I am impressed that Blue Balliett can keep the series going and it not get predictable or redundant. Most writers lose the mojo after 2 or 3 books.
There is a detective series written by Grisham. I think it’s Theodore Boone boy lawyer
I was obsessed with Animorphs (sp?) when I was a kid. its not new by any means but I read a million of then :p

The Jack Blank series: Accidental Hero by Matt Myklusch. Perfect blend of Harry Potter and Marvel comics.

Not sure how new it is but “We Were Liars” by E.Lockhart is a pretty good book.
