I love old books — and new but I wear trifocals now and still need large print in a regular book and not all books publish this way so it’s mostly Kindle for me.
My only problem with it is I am really OCD with my books. My paperback books that I’ve read, for the most part, the spines aren’t cracked. At all. I take great care of them. The state that some of the thrift books are in isn’t up to my standards. They are in really great shape considering but it’s not up to my slightly wrinkled at the top dust covers and my slight wear on edges paperback books. However, there are books there that I have been looking for for a long time and I am thrilled to finally have them.
We use it for our book club. We can buy 6 books at once cheaply with free shipping. Since its hard to check out multiple high demand books from the library at a timethis works better for us. ?
Amazon’s market for books is getting more and more expensive. I buy more frequently from eBay. A lot of the books I get happen to be from thrift books. I have good experiences with them. I even downloaded their app recently to search them directly.
I understand Thrift Books is what we call it Charity/Second-hand bookshops over here..? Then, I’d rather buy books from those – I can give them away or keep them if I liked them.
Thriftbooks is an online store with a huge selection and great prices. I also buy books at local thrift/resale stores but it is very limited there to what people bring in
Thriftbooks is awesome… have bought over 40 books. Only one issue… never reported so dont know about customer service. They have a rewards program and online coupons.
Customer Service is great! I once got a book that was rated Good. It was yellowed to the point of being brown, and the cover was coming away. They gave me full credit since they did not have another copy of it and told me to either donate it or throw it away if the condition of the book made it too difficult to read. Another time I got a book I did not order with one I did order. Again they told me to keep it or donate it.
I buy lots of books from Thriftbooks. It’s great. If the book I want is still too expensive, I put it on my wishlist until the price comes down.
Great tip!

You only have to spend $10 to get free postage. Better than $3.99 on used Amazon ones.
