I think it’s mostly done and in revision, it sounds like he’s got other Temmerant writings in the works… He referred to the Kingkiller trilogy as a “million word prologue” so I think he’s actively working on follow up books while editing The Doors of Stone. I expect great things from Rothfuss over the next few decades.
Thank you so much for this straightforward answer. I’m new here and this kind of insight is exactly what I was looking for. Can you recommend a good web site where I can find info like that, or are you in the industry and privy to writers’ ongoing projects?
Nah, I’m just a fan who watched him answer questions at a convention on a YouTube video one morning while I drank my coffee. I’ve searched for updates on book 3 every few months for the past several years, and I don’t get angry about him not publishing which allows me to listen without getting emotional and to hear what he’s actually saying. Rothfuss reminds me of one of my best friends, so his flippant answers of the past few years amuse me rather than inflame me, and I respect an author who doesn’t pump out lower quality books to appease their publishers and placate their fan base.
i do too. I don’t mind the wait, I have plenty of books to read. I was just curious. Also his books are short enough to reread in the meantime whereas I probably won’t reread GoT while I wait for his to come out.
He died
Evil. ????
Probably years after his movie or tv deal. Just like Martin leaving his fans from the beginning hanging.
Am I the troll?
@Aleida that question on this page? Pretty sure.
I don’t understand why.
maybe you’re just naive, but it’s well known how frustrated fans are that it’s been seven years since an wise mans fear was released.

Lol
Sad part is.. the book is probably written collecting dust until its release.
Does it even have a release date?
This is a touchy subject… was your intention to upset everybody
Thank you for forgiving my goofy comment. It was kind of a stupid joke. Unfortunately, over time, you’ll see your question again and again… and again…

Never ?
Aww… This question is how we know you are new to Rothfuss’ fanbase lol
LoL Don’t have an answer but what I do know is that you do NOT want to ask him about it on any social media sites or blogs ???
He’s like Martin. I always see him writing reviews for other people’s novels and I’m like “DUDE..YOU DON’T HAVE TIME.” ?
My favorite answer!
