I am reading My Little Life at the moment, it is a huge book about a group of friends, one in particular Jude who had an abusive childhood and their are parts of that book that have caused me to really cry! It is so well written but it may not be for you….
If you love romance novels, I highly suggest A Love Letter to Whiskey by Kandi Steiner. That novel will rip your heart to bits and pieces but it’s such a great angsty read.
Fault in our stars, My Sisters Keeper, A Monster Calls, some people cried at Lovely Bones, Message In A Bottle, maybe The Shack and the Child Called It series
The inexplicable logic of my life. When we collided by emery lord. Everything everything by nicola yoon. Some John green books like the fault in our stars and maybe looking for Alaska.
The Kite Runner, by Khaled Hosseini, Captain Corelli’s Mandolin, by Louis de Bernières and Atonement, by Ian McEwan. The Kite Runner and Atonement also have two wonderful movie adaptations
I think that could apply to the girl– as unhealthy as her relationship is, she can’t give him up and as a reader in an odd way you wanted them to end up together. The guy, on the other hand, I think would be an example of someone going to desperate measures to escape his version of captivity
Thank you guys for the recommendations. Im trying to ease my way back into reading, but I will refer back to these. I checked out of of your recommendations out from the library about a day or so ago.

A Game of Thrones
The Storyteller by Antonia Michaelis– one of the most depressing books I have ever read
What’s it about
a girl named Anna falls for a drug dealer named Abel as she listens to him tell his young sister a pretty dark fairy tale that is rooted in reality
there are also several murders, the ending is what really got me though
I’m going to check that out
it’s a really compelling read. disturbing at times, but worth it
I’m trying to finish a book I’m writing and trying to get perspectives on captivity and why a person can’t leave
Maybe it’ll give a perspective
I think that could apply to the girl– as unhealthy as her relationship is, she can’t give him up and as a reader in an odd way you wanted them to end up together. The guy, on the other hand, I think would be an example of someone going to desperate measures to escape his version of captivity
Thanks!!
