I love ebooks. For outdoors & those with <4000 ebooks you can’t beat a Kindle Paperwhite or Voyager. To hold my full library (9-10000) books I use the kindle app on a iPad mini as no Amazon device, including their tablets, will hold this number of ebooks. I take my Paperwhite & Mini iPad everywhere with me.
The other thing worth considering, of course, is that not all books are available for all devices. Some are, but others are exclusively with Amazon which means Kindle, or a computer Kindle device.
Just Kindle Paperwhite Carol. There is only one Paperwhite. The new one is Voyager I believe but Paperwhite is excellent. I have had mine nearly 4 years now and if I ever need a new one I would get the same again.x
Thanks Jeanette. In South Africa they have 2 different paperwhites with a price difference of R1000 and that is why I am asking. Must I look at specs like storage space etc?
It’s usually that one has Wi-Fi and the other also has 3G… Depends on whether you feel you need to download new stuff on the go or you download at home then read anywhere.
I have the original fire, the new fire, the original Kindle keyboard. The new oasis. I loved the Kk but they don’t make it now. I’ve just had the oasis bought me for Christmas. Best suprise ever. It’s awesome. But it’s pricey.
V tempted by the oasis coz it has audible built in. Just trying to figure out how it all works ‘re subscriptions… what you get by paying monthly and if it’s worth it. Whether you have to pay for audible separate to kindle and whether you still have to pay for ebooks and the audio version separately even if you do pay monthly….any guesses?
If you own the Kindle copy of a book you can add audio for a small price. You can then flip between reading and audio. Or you can just buy the audio books. I don’t pay for an audible subscription, it’s free to join, I just buy books when I want them. Same with Kindle. I don’t pay a monthly fee, I just buy the books as and when I want them.
Was just wondering if the monthly kindle unlimited was worth getting. Suppose it might be if you only want the free books but if your ok buying them then it doesn’t make sense I guess.
Kindle Voyage is a great bit of kit, but I’d recommend the Kobo range if you want the most advanced tech. They tend to be first with almost everything. There isn’t even a waterproof Kindle out yet, but Kobo have had one for ages.
I’ve got a kindle touch, kindle paperwhite and a kindle fire and I love my paperwhite for the light on it. I don’t use my kindle touch no more as I get a heads from it as the screen is to dull on it. Kindle fire is perfect for me to keep one in bedroom and ons downstairs and I just sync them to get to the last page I read x
I have the voyage which is really good . Did have the paperwhite which is also excellent . Don’t get the kindle fire especially if you want to read outdoors or on holidays as it’s impossible to read in sunlight . I live in Spain and have a fire and rarely use it as just can’t read outdoors with it .
Kindle Paperwhite! x
Kindle fire. Love mine
I like my kobo
Ditto – Kindle paperwhite. I’ve had mine for years and have over 600 titles in the cloud, a dozen waiting for me….
I am kind of thinking about kindles, but too broke to do it seriously. Might have to wait some time for the paperwhite to come down in price.
Paperwhite definitely
Kindle Paperwhite
Another vote for the paper white!
Love my Paperwhite. I can read for hours and it never bothers my eyes.
Yep, paperwhite. Unlikely to reduce much it’s their best model Colin .
Kindle Fire is awesome
Can you get the audio versions on the paperwhite? I’d like to be able to switch to listening when I get tired.
Yes
Amazon fire
I’ve got a paperwhite and I can’t get audible on that one but can on my kindle fire x

I had a fire to start then went to paperwhite. Paperwhite is lighter and good for both outside/sunshine and in bed no light req. Also it’s lighter.
I don’t need a light to use my Fire either, but it’s not so good for bright sunlight.
That’s what prompted me to change to paperwhite, found my fire very difficult on holiday.
@Diane I so rarely do holidays 🙂
Like the sun so make the effort and have 1 holiday a year ?
Kindle paperwhite or voyage, the Kindle Fire is a tablet, not a dedicated ebook reader..
Kindle Paperwhite.
I agree. I have a kindle fire but wish I’d got the paperwhite like my son, it’s much easier to see the pages
Paperwhite
Kindle paperwhite, although the kindle fire does much more, it’s no good for reading outside in the sun, as I found out, so I now have both!
I find the \fire very heavy
I have kobo and kindle I like them both try downloading the apps to your phone before buying ?

I had an early kobo like a tablet found it heavy compared to a book, but my kindle it light. ?
KOBO Aura One, It´s Awesome!!!
The other thing worth considering, of course, is that not all books are available for all devices. Some are, but others are exclusively with Amazon which means Kindle, or a computer Kindle device.
I have a paperwhite it’s great but if I could magically transfer all my books I’d definitely be trying the new kobo
Paper white – can read it at night in bed with lights out – brilliant!
I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab, it’s a bit heavier than the custom made ereaders, but I can have all the apps on it for books from anywhere
Oh I also use my lenovo yoga 8. The shape for me is easier to hold than the kindle
Kindle!!
kindle fire
I love my paperwhite
Kindle Paperwhite if you want it for reading only or Kindle Fire if you want to use it as a tablet aswell. good reading
kobo 🙂
Paperwhite! I swore I’d never use a ereader but I’m in love!!! I have only had plus points, nothing negative about it x
Kindle Paper White all the way. Love mine. I have over a thousand books on it waiting to be read.
Hi. Which kindle paperwhite would you recommend? I want to buy one but not sure which one

Whichever works for you. Definitely in UK that’s the difference between the prices…also maybe amount of storage on them may be different.
Thanks
Kobo glo! Love it, had it years. Reliable and easy to use
Kindle paper white just got one and love it
I love my Kindle Fire and I just bought a Paperwhite and I love that too.
