^^ same depending on how I feel afterwards. If I’m reading another book in that series, I’ll start reading it right away. If it’s not, I might wait a few days or start it right away.
It depends on the book. Some characters stay with me and I have to think about the book for a day or two. Usually, I begin another book as soon as i can.
Same!! I feel like I’m betraying my previous book like I still wanna revel into it cuz I feel like it deserves it and I don’t want it to think, “Bitch so you’re done with me and have already moved on, huh?” ?
… do I have the next book in a series at hand ? if the answer is yes then with 30 seconds 😀 😀 (if not : i’ll do dishes first and then pick up a new book 😉 )
Since I always have more than one book going at once, there is no lag time between books. It is just perpetual book reading, no waiting for the next to move on to. ☮️??
Usually same day, unless I realize I don’t have time to read 15-20 pages of the new book that day. If I only get a few pages in on the first day, then sometimes I never really connect with the book, even a “good” one.
It depends on the book. Sometimes I need a day or two to get the last one out of my system. I can get so drawn into a book at times I feel like I’ve lost a part of me when it’s over. Then there are books that when I finish I can just jump right back into another one.
I’m usually reading a few books at a time so when I’m done my “main” one, I’ll usually make one of my secondary books my main book. A lot of my reading is driven by library due dates but sometimes my interest in a certain book may override that.
Depends… if the book that I just finished has really kicked me in the feels, I may need a few days. If it was a book I was meh about, I’m much more likely to jump into something else asap.
Yes, I was reading Little Women and started crying on when Beth dies and my roommate asked me what is wrong? And, I just said, “Beth died.” He was a little confused and asked me who Beth was. Then I had to tell him that was one of the sister’s in this book. And, when I had finished the book, I felt like crying, because it was over and done.
It depends on the book. When I read Abe Kobo’s Woman in the Dunes I felt like I never gonna read anything again. It lasted for a couple of weeks. But I can read as much as 3 of R. A. Salvatore’s dark elf books just in one day.
According to the book, sometimes it makes me need to read another one in the same day because I don’t want to stop reading, and sometimes it takes me days until I start another one because I want to absorb its idea into my brain
It depends, occasionally I have to take a day or 2 to actually process what just happened if it is one of those books! ? most of your time, I’ll dive right into another.
It depends on the book I finished. Some books leave an impression & it takes me a while (3/4 days) to come out of it. Sometimes I start right away. No hard and fast rule.
Depends on how much the book made an impact. After reading ‘Conflicted’ by @Katze an M/M dark thriller, it took me about 2 weeks to come back from it. That book owns part of my soul still. Sequal out till Christmas and I’m stalking the author to – *cough* motivate – get a faster release…lol
Depends on the novel. I generally read each evening before bedtime. Some nights I can start a new book immediately and sometimes even if I’m not that tired, I just need to pause and not start a new novel until the next evening. It happened again over the weekend, I finished reading “The Signature of All Things” by Elizabeth Gilbert and I couldn’t start another novel the same night.
A few hours to a day.
Just before I finish it
For as long as it takes me to fetch a new one from my TBR pile ?
^^ same depending on how I feel afterwards. If I’m reading another book in that series, I’ll start reading it right away. If it’s not, I might wait a few days or start it right away.
start reading the next one before finishing the other
If I still have some time, I put the one I finished on my book shelf and take another one down and start.
Right away if I have a book close
Maybe a few minutes or hours if I go to sleep after.
5 min lol unless I’m really emotionally shaken lol
Agreed!
Same!
Depends on if the book ripped a hole in my soul or not.
Yes. Same for me. Sometimes …. I just want to be with the words …
As long as it takes me to reach over to nightstand.
Immediately, unless I need time to emotionally recover from the last one ?
… do I have the next book in a series at hand ? if the answer is yes then with 30 seconds 😀 😀 (if not : i’ll do dishes first and then pick up a new book 😉 )
Instant
Depends when I finish it and what the finished book was like!
Since I always have more than one book going at once, there is no lag time between books. It is just perpetual book reading, no waiting for the next to move on to. ☮️??
Right away because I have a lot in my TBR pile and more on the way ???
Depends on touched/happy/devastated I am. More often then not I pick one out right away but usually wait a couple hours before starting it.
It depends on how much I enjoyed reading the book but I usually wait at least 2/3 hours before starting a new one.
I’m always reading multiple books, so there is no waiting period for me.
I mostly read several books simultaneously, and start my other book or books while reading one main book…
If it was a good book I can’t get into another one right away it usually takes two days to pick another one up.
After making a decision, depending on what’s in my TBR pile
It all depends. Some books need a moment of silence
Immediately
Depends! But since I’m trying to stop reading books simultaneously, I’m working on a new process. 😀
Usually same day, unless I realize I don’t have time to read 15-20 pages of the new book that day. If I only get a few pages in on the first day, then sometimes I never really connect with the book, even a “good” one.
Almost instantly. I usually have multiple books going at once so it is hard difficult to move onward.
It depends on the book. Sometimes I need a day or two to get the last one out of my system. I can get so drawn into a book at times I feel like I’ve lost a part of me when it’s over. Then there are books that when I finish I can just jump right back into another one.
About 5 minutes. ?OK, sometimes I finish one before bed then start a new one when I get up in the morning.
I’m usually reading a few books at a time so when I’m done my “main” one, I’ll usually make one of my secondary books my main book. A lot of my reading is driven by library due dates but sometimes my interest in a certain book may override that.
As long as it takes to walk to my book case and find another one to start ???
Depends on if the book was deep and complex or just like frosting. Example little women vs. Crime and Punishment.
Or a while if I have to think on the book and what it means, if there is a meaning to what was said and how I can relate that to my life.
ASAP..
I often have multiple books going at once, but if I need a new one I grab one right away. I can’t imagine life without a book nearby!
I hear you
Depends… if the book that I just finished has really kicked me in the feels, I may need a few days. If it was a book I was meh about, I’m much more likely to jump into something else asap.
ASAP
Depends on the book.
Soon as I pick it the next day for sure
Usually have two going at the same time so it never happens that I don’t have something I’m already into
Always have a book on the go. Often more than one so I’ve usually got one to pick up as soon as I’ve finished one
As soon as I can
A couple of days or so if it’s a stand alone. Instantly if it’s a series
Depends how emotionally attached the characters i was. Sometimes I need to grieve before moving on, others I can just start the next book immediately.
That’s one of my favorites!
Yes, me too.
I have to finish a book at night. Then I’ll switch to a new book or one of the other books I’m reading the next day.
A good five minutes
straightaway if I can
Right away. I usually have one waiting in the wings.
Right away. I put one down and pick the next one up.
Reading or writing.
It depends on the book. When I read Abe Kobo’s Woman in the Dunes I felt like I never gonna read anything again. It lasted for a couple of weeks. But I can read as much as 3 of R. A. Salvatore’s dark elf books just in one day.
It depends. If the next book is on my lap or at arm’s length, 3 – 5 seconds… ?
Right away:)
Same day?
Same day or next day x
Right away, unless it’s late/I have plans
Most of the time, I would move on straight away. But sometimes it could take a day or two, depending on how much time I want to reflect on I’ve read.
Right away. When I get near the end of one book I figure out what my next book will be.
According to the book, sometimes it makes me need to read another one in the same day because I don’t want to stop reading, and sometimes it takes me days until I start another one because I want to absorb its idea into my brain
Within the hour
I pick my next book and start it the next day ?
Wait?!?! ☺ Why wait? Well, I will wait if I finish a book right before bed and I’m too tired to start another.
Right away
As long as it takes to put one down and pick the other one up.
Maybe a minute, a few days if I cried over the book
Immediately
It depends how late it is.
Depends on how the book made me feel. Sometimes I’ll wait a day or jump right in for the next adventure.
At least one day… to get over the previous one ?
That night or the next day.
Sometimes I start another while I’m reading one. Is this normal??
Yeah, well, I’m reading one every night, but during the day I read 3 different ones, it’s like they accent each other.
The next day.
Right away
It depends of the book if I’m still thinking about the one I just finished maybe a day or two if not I move to the next one rather quickly
minutes
It depends, occasionally I have to take a day or 2 to actually process what just happened if it is one of those books! ? most of your time, I’ll dive right into another.
Wait? No.
Unless the book was a brilliant emotional gem, then, maybe a day. Maybe.
A couple of minutes, usually
Ummm… how fast can I find page 1 of the next one?
It depends on the book I finished. Some books leave an impression & it takes me a while (3/4 days) to come out of it.
Sometimes I start right away. No hard and fast rule.
Same
Same.
I start my next book the same day
I overlap a minimum of three…
Usually its the same day
The next day
Same right away.
usually I read more then one book at a time, so there isnt any gap. but sometimes I just cannot start any new book so I take a break for few days.
The other book is always ready challenging me to finish reading it ASAP.
It really depends . But rarely next day . I do take some time to think about what to read next
Ummm, 1 minute? ?
I start a new book within 24 hours
2 seconds
With some books, I have to wait a few days to be emotionally ready.
I might have a cup of tea first whilst completeing the enjoyment of the finished book, but then I’m onto my next. I can’t be without a book.
The minute I finish reading ACKNCOWLEDGEMENTS.
Minutes
Immediately
Long pile of books always waiting
As long as it takes to get to the bookshelf
I usually have 2 or 3 going. Different degrees on doneness.
Closing it and picking up the next one.
Absolutely! Correct answer for me too!
Seconds
Right away my tbr isn’t shrinking lol it’s growing
Depends on how much the book made an impact. After reading ‘Conflicted’ by @Katze an M/M dark thriller, it took me about 2 weeks to come back from it. That book owns part of my soul still. Sequal out till Christmas and I’m stalking the author to – *cough* motivate – get a faster release…lol
Depends on the finished book. Sometimes I need to lighten up or change locale
24hrs.
I usually finish a book before bed, and I’ll look for my next book the next day on my lunch break.
me too
I don’t. Next! 😉 LOL!
