Causes fear in some, But for others its life changing, Thats what it did for me. I understand we all have the free will to choose but plz be respectful. It’s way more than a book to some of us, you would get very upset if someone disrespect your mother or your spouse or child so plz consider that when be decent.
@Michelle I didn’t mean to cause offence but I have my own reasons for this comment. As I should respect your feelings you should respect mine. I know a lot of people won’t agree with me putting that but the best thing is to ignore comments that annoy you. I love the fact that so many people in the world have something that helps them. This was meant partly as a joke. I hope you have a lovely day x
i think close to halfway. It wasn’t scary to me but I just found it disturbing more than anything. I don’t like books or movies about possessions anyway so I should have known better anyway ?
The lair or domain by james herbert. I think . It was the third in the rats series of books. Starts off scary after reading the other two first. ? aghhh rats.
But the book I found most terrifying because it’s based on actual events and could really happen is The Hot Zone by Richard Preston. I find Ebola virus to be way more terrifying then any book I’ve ever read!!!!
None have scared me that bad, but one book was so disturbing that I had a panic attack and had to take a breather before finishing it. It was Survivor by (something) Gonzalez. Very messed up book about a woman being kidnapped by a group of people that make snuff films.
@Samantha I read that book too. I had nightmares for years after. When I finished the book I hid it in my closet for years because it traumatized me. Only book to ever do that to me.
I just finished The Exorcist, but I was close to putting it down. Not because it was scary though, it’s very disturbing. I pushed through and finished it. I asked this question a few weeks ago. The top reads were The Exorcist, Amityville Horror, Orgin, Intensity by Dean Koontz, and a few by Stephen King. Intensity started off really good, started it last night.
I’m a horror freak, movies and books and the only book that’s ever got to me was a scene in trapped (Jack kilborn) about cannibals. First time I ever had a nightmare over a book!

Following as well. Haven’t been scared of a book since The Exorcist when I was 17.

Yes. I found that comment very unwarranted too.

Heart Shaped Box—but I’m a horror pansy. I’m sure many would disagree.
@Rebekah couldn’t finish. Woke up screaming
I don’t “like” this, but I like that I’m not alone. ?
Yes!! I tried to read it and it freaked me out within the first few chapters. It’s still sitting on my shed waiting for me to finish it one day.
I returned it to the library and chalked it up as an abandoned book. Sleep is more important than completion in my world.
@Rebekah no it was creepy scary. Then again he was raised by Stephen King.
Loved Bird Box!!!
@Jill: I haven’t read that one.
Thomas Tryon’s Harvest Home.
An anthology by Steven King.
