Yes! Both Bear Town and Us Against You were excellent! I went to hear Backman speak in the spring for Us Against You release and he revealed that there is a third book planned! He always envisioned it as a trilogy!
I finally started My Grandma…” last night, skeptical that I would like it because I’m not drawn to coming of age books (which it sounded like) and never knew my grandparents (so I had nothing to relate to). First ten pages and I’m hooked! SOOO, I’ve just added Beartown to my TBR and the Friends of the Library booksale is coming up next week, so I’m jazzed! Thanks for the recommendation!
It was required reading for all the boy’s at my son’s boarding school. He said it had a slow start building the characters but then it took off and in one night he had to stay up all night reading it. He just couldn’t put it down.
Oh, how I loved The Weekly Reader and those book flyers and school book fairs! I am totally and happily addicted to reading, but now most of my books come from our county library and used book sales.
I need to pick it up again. I struggled so much. As a mom with daughters I was cringing and had to put it down after the “event”. I adored Ove, Grandmother, and Britt-Marie, so it was sad for me to struggle reading this one.
Yes it is! The sequel is just as good.
What is sequel? Thank you!
Us against you
Have the book just have not read it yet.
The sequel is called Us Against You. It was released earlier this year.
Thank you!
Me too!
Us Against You. And if you enjoyed Beartown you’ll love that he continues the story.

Tried to get my book club to read this, but they passed on it. Still going to read it on my own.
I just finished it. It was pretty good. I will be picking up the sequel when it comes out in Sept.
Oh… I guess Us Against You is out already!! Lol!!?
Us Against You is the first in the trilogy? read that one first?
Bear Town is first. Us Against You is the sequel
Us Against You is the second.
Great book!
It is! I finished it a week or so ago. Picking up the sequel at the library tomorrow.
Beartown first, Us against you continues the story a year later.
Loved it!!
Glad to hear it. I loved Olve, hated Grandma
it was different from his other books I had read, but still a really good read – so relevant in todays world… and thought provoking.
I love that book.
One of the best books I have read in a long time. And the sequel Us Against You is very good as well.
Would love to hear Backman speak – no dates posted 🙁

I couldn’t get into Beartown so I didn’t finish it or read its sequel, but I loooooved all of his other books! I couldn’t put them down!
How far did you get? It starts out quite tame, but takes a serious turn.
@Ann then I probably just didn’t give it enough time. I’ll give it another shot in the future. I’ve had that happen with other books, too.
I finished it, hated it the whole time ?♀️
I had to put it down. I can’t handle rape
What page does it get good. I’m 100 pages in and bored.
Doing a reread of Beartown is on my Bucket List. ?❤️
I really liked it too, and the sequel is excellent too!

Good story, but lots of characters!
I’m reading the sequel, Us Against You, at the moment. His best is definitely A Man Called Ove, but I’ve enjoyed every one of his books.

Is Bear Town related to Grandmother and Brit Marie, or another series?
Not related to Grandmother or Brit Marie but Us Against You is Beartown’s sequel.

Loved that and Us Against You
Wonderful story. The sequel “Us against You” is out.
I’m in the middle of Us Against You.
@Lina how is it so far?
@Linda just as good as the first. Funny thing is, when I read Beartown I didn’t appreciate how good it is until I had finished it.
I really like all of his books.
Like it.
Haha! It helps to be a hockey fan
That was a good book. I like his writing
Bear Town is nothing like his 1dt 34 books. Much darker but very good.

It was a tough one. I agree, but I’m glad I stayed with it.
