He’s a native of Natchez and writes books set in the town. Kinda murder mystery. I love that town ! Visit the homes there. My dad is from there so I spent all my summers there. It’s a great town !
Yes to Greg Iles! I have only read The Quiet Game which, despite its size, was a fast read because it was so engaging. I will definitely be reading more of his.
If you have a chance check out the Linden House B&B while you are there. The front of the house was used somehow in Gone With the Wind. It’s worth the time for a tour. Enjoy your trip Natchez was a great place to visit.
Varina, by Charles Frazier, is the fascinating story of the wife of Jefferson Davis. What an unusual life this woman had. Literate, independent, and a ferocious adventurer, she spent a great deal of time away from her husband, blossoming a unique life of tales, determination, and friendships with Mary Chestnut, Julia Grant and other fabulous women of the era.
Anything by Greg Iles. Look him up on the internet and see his office while you’re there. Also the Turning Angel monument in the National Cemetery there.
This sounds like a wild and crazy story but so often true stories ARE “stranger than fiction”! I’ll be looking for this one. Thanks for posting. Check this out, @Tonia 😉
The Help is set in Jackson, but it’s six of one, half dozen of t’other…. Also, make sure you visit the Under the Hill Saloon and learn that history while there….
