I loved it. I have not read her trilogies in awhile, but this one sucked me in. And then sunk me to despair when I realized it would be another year until the next book.
I have heard so many great things about this book. To those of you who have read it, I would like to ask: is it very similar to other books about a dystopian society? Such as the Red Queen series, Divergent series. Hunger Games.
Eeeek I’m the odd ball. That’s the first book of hers I did not like. It was too dark for me. I usually love her trilogies and even her magic ones however I struggle with books that get descriptive about dark things that happen to people and this book had too much dark in it for me.
I am with you as well – I returned it to the library after reading the first 125 pages; just couldn’t get into it….but loved every other book of hers that I have read.
Gets better then bleak again but keep reading. It broke my heart many times only to rebuild it with hope again. This story is worth it. And we have book 2 coming in December!
I love Nora, too. Read almost everything except mainstream, and only because I don’t care for murder. She headed down that road and I don’t know if she is still on it. There was one trilogy I couldn’t read, though. Too graphic. Sounds like this could be another.
it was ok , I honestly kept reading it cause it was from her , I love her books but this one felt more like a Stephen King , The Stand book , didn’t feel like her other reads
I just saw this at the bookstore the other day and am also curious about it!
I read it and loved it! I can’t wait for the second in the series!
I need to read it!
I loved it!!

It was really good.
Loved it.

Not similar
I read it. Thought it was great: totally different from what she usually writes book 2 out Dec 4

I completely agree with you!

Reminded me of two of my all time favorites, Stephen King THE STAND and Dean Koontz’s INNOCENCE. Loved it!
I really enjoyed it!
I liked it and am eagerly awaiting the next book in the series!
Fantastic!
I loved it. Counting the days until Book 2. I don’t read dystopian society books. Her characters were well drawn as usual.
Some books can be like that
Loved it!
I’m reading it now, it’s my first Nora Roberts book. It’s very bleak and is stressful but I’m hopeful the story turns a bit toward something positive

@JoAnn Thanks, I am enjoying it but just like you said I see heartbreak ahead.
I’m reading it right now as well.
