It’s a genre I find positively scary! There’s such a fine line between funny and awful. Humour is so subjective.

2
Bronwyn

Never get tired of him, @Tim. Have just bought the complete dvd Jeeves and Wooster set. Hugh Laurie and Stephen Fry are superb.
I love the Blanding series too.

1
Tim

Me too! My gateway drug was “Mike” (published by Armada in 2 separate paperbacks Mike at Wrykyn and Mike and Psmith) when I was about 10 or 11

1
Bronwyn

I didn’t read any Wodehouse until adulthood. Can imagine Psmith (the P is silent ?) being a bit of a hero to a young lad. Really enjoyed those books too. Have you read any biographies about him? A very interesting person and really nice guy by all accounts.

1
Tim

Yes, I read several many years ago. Richard Usborne’s Wodehouse At Work is also a great critical appreciation if you don’t know it.

1
Bronwyn

I’m not sure, Tim, I know I’ve read more than one, but the only one I’ve written down is ‘PG Wodehouse. A Portrait of a Master’ by David A Jasen. I’ll look out for it.

1
Tim

Yes, I read the Jasen one ages ago. There’s a more recent one by Robert Crumb (I think) that I keep meaning to get hold of.
