Darker is the second book in the series. You will need to read shades first as it is the first book in the series and dark follows on from it

They go in order.

50 Shades of Grey
50 Shades Darker
50 Shades Free

If you read Darker first you’ll miss out on a lot of the story line.

You can just read Grey and Darker and read her POV after.

They basically go:
Fifty shades of grey
Grey
Fifty shades darker
Darker
Fifty shades free
Free (not yet released)

If you are interested in erotica, read Anne Rice’s Beauty series. Shades has weak characters, poor writing, and the plot is all over the place – in my opinion.

Why would you want to read them out of order? TBH, I thought they were overrated and I’d advise to skip them. There are so many better books to read!

I loved all of them try read the first of the series and if you don’t like it you can always quit, don’t let anyone tell you to not read them cause it’s shit in their opinion you might miss out on something you really going to enjoy 🙂

I didn’t say they were s#!+, I said they were overrated. Geez, Louise!

Maggie

they aren’t shit, but what they are is much worse; making people think the dom/sub culture/relationship is about abuse, disrespect, and forcing others into things they were not comfortable with. These books glorify abuse, both physical as well as mental. NO healthy relationship, kink or no, has ANY of that. Trying to normalise it is deeply, deeply disturbing.

Aliner

I wasn’t talking about you Christine lol

Grey of course, the first book

I thought they were garbage myself (tame/typical), Kushiels Dart series by Jacqueline Carey is a way better option in that vein

None, it’s a waste of time. Really, read something better.

I would say neither. Read something more worthwhile. I have heard from a lot of people that after they started reading them they stopped and started something else.
