I agree with the Wimpy Kid series. James Patterson writes a lot of books for young adults and children. And he’s great.

Harry Potter, also the Black Stallion series. Don’t let him watch the movie, though, that was a travesty.

The Magic Tree House series. Do them in order as they build and get a little more difficult to read after book 12 or so. Lots of fun topics.

My boys loved the Goosebumps books, Treehouse mysteries, Junie B Jones and any
Royald Dahl books! If you or another adult reads to him, as well as him reading to himself then the Royald Dahl books are fun for grown ups too. The BFG is fantastic, The Twits, Witches, Charlie and Choc Factory, James and the Giant Peach, Matilda ect..
Also Shel Silverstein’s
Where The Sidewalk Ends book of poems is super fun!
Charlottes Web, The Mouse and The Motorcycle, Percy Jackson and Diary of A Wimpy Kid.

Oh and if he is a silly boy then Captain Underpants is excellent.. those books are what started one of my sons really reading.. a super hero flys around in underwear and a cape… two boys pull funny pranks at school by changing the letters around on signs to read fart and things like that.. lots of fart jokes.. my kid loved them

I have a 7 year old boy who reads at a 3rd grade level . The Geronimo Stilton books were still a little advanced for him. He told me maybe he would like them next year ?

That’s good 🙂
Those books fascinate me. I love the drawings, the way words are presented and the stories, of course 🙂

@Pauline me too. Even though Aiden didn’t want to finish this book, I did ?. I loved the word play in it. I definitely know we will be revisiting these books when he is a little more mature.

Michael Morpurgo writes good books. For Example, he wrote War Horse. I read them too even though they are written for children.
