For Lonesome Dove series I needed a break because some of the content is brutal. For Ken Follet I take breaks because each book is at least 1000 pages.

Lonesome Dove I didn’t because I was too nosy and comparing the book to the television series. Ken Follett, I could understand, even though I love his books, too.

I have only read the 50 Shades Trilogy but I want to read a series by James Patterson. For me, I’ll only read books in the series before reading another book because I don’t want to get the books story lines mixed up like I have in the past.

If I’ve enjoyed the stories and invested in the characters then I want to read them all back-to-back. Can’t wait so wouldn’t dream of not reading the next book if I had it on the bookshelf. Earlier this year I read all 8 of James Oswald’s Inspector McLean books back to back and loved them all. This morning I finished the 4th and last of Sharon Bolton’s Lacey Flint books in 2 weeks. Really enjoyed them!

It depends on how long the series is and how good the books are. It’s a series isn’t that long and the books are really good I read them back to back, or as fast as I can acquire them. It is series is a really long I’m going to need a break.

It depends on how good the book is.

It mostly depends on whether they’ve all been written yet or not!
Also, if they’re really intense I’ll read a book or two in between instalments to break it up a little.

I’ve found that if I binge read a series, I lose interest by book three, star skimming and usually don’t make it to the end. But if I take a break between books, read something else, I enjoy the series more.

Never felt like that in any of the series I’ve read to be honest. 🙂

I’m both. Some are so good I eat them right up. Others I wait so long in between that by the time I pick up the next one I forgot what happened previously

Depends on how short the books are. I can’t read outlander back to back because they are so long. Other series that are only 300-400 pages I can do several of those in a row before I need a break.

If I have them all and the time then I try and read them together. But if I don’t own them or it’s in a ReadAThon and only one fits a challenge then I don’t.

Depends on how well I liked the book. I have done this on a few series but some have a lot of books already in the series when I found them so I had to take a break on a few.

I’ve been listening to George RR Martin’s GOT’s series. They are huge and I don’t have the physical time to sit and read, so I drive and listen. I’m on book 4 and am taking a small break. I started listening to Lord of the Rings as an in between. ??
