The Stand,
It’s a doorstop but the development he does and the storyline are amazing and totally worth it!

The Shining. It’s one of only three books to ever scare me.

The Shining. I thought it was a good story. I’m not a huge fan of his writing style.

I’ve only read a few. Which books are you referring to?

I thought the ending of the Shining was a little obvious and it wasn’t the big bang I was hoping for.

I don’t too.

That is hard. Its between the shining and the pet semetary. They were both scary. The shining just was freaky in itself but for Pet Semetary I think it really rings true the despair and levels that parents would do when grieving a child. Also its a tragic creepy ending.

Carrie. I got bullied in high school and it was one of the first Stephen King books I picked up on my own and read.

Followed by the Green Mile and Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank redemption.

11/22/63. I loved the historical perspectives and the “what if” scenarios..

The Stand because I love apocalyptic stories with average men and women and I love good vs evil storylines. Lisey’s Story is my second fave. It spoke to me in ways I can’t explain. ?

I’ll have to go with the first of the Dark Tower series. It was probably the first ever proper book that I read as a kid. ?

My favorite is probably Joyland. I just really enjoyed the story. The scariest one I’ve read is The Dark Half.

That’s the first Stephen King book I read when I was around 11. I remember being blown away by his ability to tell a story.

Excellent book. It’s not his usual style, but it’s a good and solid story.

I love Misery but I’m now reading Salem’s Lot and it might knock Misery off the top spot.

The Long Walk because I couldn’t get it out of my mind for days after I read it, so I picked it up and read it again. And that’s VERY rare for me because I do NOT reread books. I love 11/22/63 too, but for different reasons (I love time travel, I’m obsessed with JFK and the 60s, etc).

Oooo, Nina, I forgot about The Long Walk! That is a really good one that’s very thought provoking. The Regulators is also really good.

The Stand because of the way society completely changes. For me, the scariest of his books that I’ve read is Salem’s Lot.

For a long time it was The Talisman, then The Stand, then It. But having re-read Pet Sematary again recently, I have to say it is one of his most under-rated novels. And currently my new favourite.

I’m reading Dr Sleep right now, so far so good. Maybe that’s why I posted this question. Love SK.

1
Matthew

@Jennifer I’m currently reading “It” so I think I’m going to re read The Shining after then Dr Sleep! I’ve been on a bit of a King binge recently myself, just finished Rose Madder a couple of weeks ago, that’s another of my favourites, there’s so many!

Hmm. Tough call… Probably Bag of Bones because it made me feel every emotion I could think of. And also The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon because baseball lol. The Stand because it’s epic. Hearts in Atlantis because it moved me. It because I love childhood/adulthood stories and it scared the pants off me. And Dreamcatcher because of Beav and his toothpicks and , of course, because of Duddits.

My personal favorite is “The Running Man,” although IT is something all unto itself…. it’s a horror master class. I finished that and basically thought “ok I never need to read another horror novel.”
