It was a hard read because *(possible spoiler)*

one of the narrators is a drunk and you get stuck in her mind.

*(End spoiler)*
That being said I thought the characterization was really good because of how it was written.

Its a psychological thriller after alll! It was supposed to disturb you, to make you uncomfortable…and it succeeded i believe! And true she was hard to like, but you could feel her pain and tolerate with her…bcs the writing was superb as well.

Everyone I know who read it loved it. I tend to read thrillers these days more because everyone is talking about it than because I love thrillers. It isn’t my favorite genre. It was well written and it had a good premise. For those who love thrillers, most thought it was terrific.

^ I’m so glad about these comments, I read it recently and I was in two minds about it. It was gripping, I’ll give Paula Hawkins that, I wanted to read more to know what happened! But I wasn’t too overly keen on the whole thing. Left me feeling a little creeped out at the end too.
At first I was sat reading it and thinking “if it turns out to be one of these characters I’m thinking of, I’m going to be disappointed!” it wasn’t, but I was still disappointed – but in a creeped out way at the end.
Anyone else had that? I guess it’s because I used to know someone that reminded me of a character in it (trying hard here not to give away spoilers!) and some things they used to say!
I bought the film on DVD though, to see what it’s like.
